Stick with Trainz or move on to MSTS 2?

When MSTS 2 comes out next year, are you going to stick with Trainz or move on to MSTS 2? I will probably get MSTS 2 since I'm tired of all the glitches and crashes that the Trainz series has offered through the years. But I also want to check the requirements and the reviews first. My mom just gotten a new computer last month so it should run MSTS 2, I hope.

Mow some lawns this summer and buy MSTS2, KRS, and the TRS collection ;) !

My thoughts ---DLR

I dusted my MSTS off the other night and reinstalled it, together with "Great British Diesel Locomotives" which (in my foolishness) I bought.Thoughts were - great frame rates, in areas which had colour but virtually no realistic detail.UK diesel sounds were utterly wrong for all locos. No drivers in cab.Apparently unable to use the mouse to control anything.Adding a Consist required a PHD in Physics.Route Editor still completely impossible to use.So the answer is NO , if I want to swell Bill Gates' fotrunes I will simply donate the money to him and stick with Trainz....

My favorite was watching the train VANISH when it finished a run. I remember one route on the old PO&N (2 or 3) where the trains would do just that. Really funny to watch if you were paying attention.

please, i would have thought that people would have figured out by now that there is no relation between the original MSTS and the upcoming MSTS2 other than the name.
yes, the original MSTS interface is horrid, but im sure this will be improved in the new product.
As for me ill be getting MSTS2 as well as continuing using KRS and a little trs (atleast till FEC KEW is completed)

I can't wait for the release of MSTS2, with all these Trainzers going across to swell Gatesy boys wallet, it will make the dls more stable with less pressure on it. :D

but im sure this will be improved in the new product.

Like when Bill Gates replaced Win XP with Vista ?

We plan to evaluate MSTS2 fully once it's released. Until then it seems premature to start guessing.

I"ve watched the demo video of MSTS2 (which has been posted in 2 seperate threads here) and I"m unable to see any difference in the renders or the graphics. So, to cut to the chase, what exactly WILL be different?

It will require a quad processor, quad video cards, 64 bit Vista and 16 gigs of memory.

Cheerio John

I'm pretty sure that building your own routes will be(or better) as good as Trainz. It'll still be in the game even though the World of Rails thing will be in it too. The World of Rails has got to be the most inivative creation I've ever seen in a train game!!:D

TRS unles I get both. If you ask me TRS offers a community aspect-creators, helpers, etc.-that MSTS may never have. It's also way easier installing/creating TRS conent, seeing as thee are software included/accesible made for creating.

M$T$ 2 isn't out for maybe another 12 months, so I wouldn't worry unduly about getting it just yet, a lot can happen in a year, besides, is the grass greener on the other side??????

Cheerz. ex.

You pretty much said it all there. Until it's out who can say for sure whether it's any good?

I suppose if you have been driven crazy by crashes and bugs and CMP you might be determined to go elsewhere. I still only run TRS2004 so I haven't reached that stage - I don't wish to fan the flames of KRS vs TRS but while KRS undoubtedly does some things better, they were not enough to convince me to go over and learn a whole new way of doing everything. MSTS2 might, I say might, be in the same boat.

But yes, it's too early to know.

An announcement on the UKTS forums tonight:-

We haven't widely announced this yet, but the sim will be built for both XP and Vista.

Hardware requirements will be a step above what's needed for Flight Sim X. With regards to hardware requirements and cost, keep in mind we're at least a year from release.

So going by that, and the fact that it is at least 18months away, a NASA supercomputer may just be the ideal platform! Good old Bill!!

I'm planning to invest in MSTS2 (what's with everyone using M$T$, am I missing a joke or something? ).

I am also planning on keeping TRS; knowing Mircosoft: I can believe the online industries 'n such will be well done, but I have doubts about how easy their route editor will be. Only time will tell...

Besides, I have all this wonderfull content for TRS2004; I just don't want to give that up! :p
