Some info about a really big locomotive...

My god that thing is a monster, leave it to the soviets to come up with something like that.

Another improbabile locomotive: the articulated boiler project (Germany 1944)

A very nice looking engine, but the second tender is useless: How should the coal be shoveled to the engine?:)

Haemmm... I don't understand you soo much, dear steam-addicted... A couple of pipes an the story can work without soo much hard work.
And in this way it is possible to have more tenders connected, as much as you need.
Whell... the idea of a multitender stocker is intriguing, anyway... Someone knows how big the pipe for such a stocke could have been? I still have the coal tender somewhere...

Check the plans for the newer engines like the 4-8-4. Most of them had mechanical stokers. The fire box was too big to feed with a shovel.
I saw one once in person (disassembkled at the streetcar museum in Parris, California). I don't remember exactly, but I think the pipe for the stoker was something like 6 inches(15cm). Maybe 8 inches.

 Claude

Stokers work on the archimedes screw principle...there's one at the local railroad museum in a Union Pacific Big Boy. It's approximately 12-15" in diameter...rather large, but it's a large engine!

The biggest giveaway is the parallax of the driver sets. Note the difference between sets 1 and 2, and then note that 2 and 3 are identical, which they certainly shouldn't be.

Bill.

actually, your wrong, I would love to see the Crazy Ideas people come up with....just because

Well, let me give you an idea.

A 6-10-10-10-10-10-8 with a large centipede tender.
Fuel - Water with re-condensing system fit on funnel
Firebox - Small amount of contantained plasma to heat fire box.
Elephant ears, quad stack

Hoo boy, now THAT'S what I call BIG!! :D :D :D

Love to see somone with an artistic streak (or really fast gmaxing skillz) sketch up a representation of that!

Thats one of ....15 super engines with all sorts of impossible, but cool characteristics.
