Some info about a really big locomotive...

Maybe you have not insisted or stated that such a locomotive as your Bigger Boy existed, but you have marred the pages of history by assigning the 8000 number to your loco. The UP 8000 number actually belonged to the first 4-10-2 locomotive. (More info on the 4-10-2 locos here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4-10-2) The 4-10-2 type was the predecessor of the Union Pacific Type 4-12-2 which in turn was somewhat the predecessor of the Challenger.

...which in turn was the predecessor of the Big Boy, which in turn was the predecessor of the Huge Boy. :o

Perhaps we decided to call her 8000 as an unconscious tribute to the 4-10-2 8000 as the Mother of All the Giant Locomotives...who knows what happens in the unfathomable depths of the human mind ;)
 
Well... I think the reason Union Pacific could call it 8000 is because UP had the Big Boys as class 4000. A Huge boy should be two Big Boys. Not less, but Class 12000 would be an exageration...

Another reason is that UP 8000 had been sold to LA&SL (becoming LA&SL 809) and we all knows how much UP liked to reuse unoccupied locomotive numbers...

Eire triplex is the huge boy. Eire tried to put on the 4-8-8-8-4 but it came out as a 28882, and the way the picture is is not real. the triplex is what you guys are really talking about. the picture one would be too much for the bioler, wheels and it would sqwaush the tracks..

Theoretically, the more wheels it has the less weight is put on each individual one and hence on the track, the only probem I can see is generating enough steam for the six cylinders (compounding perhaps? Sounds like a job for André Chapelon.)

However, the photo in question is quite obviously photoshopped, but that does not make it any less interesting.

I agree with you 100%. I think Anatole Chapelon-Dubraque (see here) should have been the guy. Sorry for the reference in Italian. The guy who should translate our site has desapeared with all the paperwork during a visit at Roswell.

I personally think there should be more fictional locomotives in Trainz... The Huge Boy looks awesome, but it seems to be the only fictional loco in Trainz... (Correct me if I'm wrong: I probably am!) One fictional train I've always wanted in Trainz is (and this may sound a bit..... childish to you, but..... that just the way I am! Somebody made an easter egg loco driven by the easter Bunny, but the title is in German so I'm not sure what it's called.
An 0-2-0T would be fun, too. Or a V-8 Heisler.
