Snow High Valley Distr Ctr (High Resolution 950x532) Approx

Hello Southern1581,

Sorry to hear about the projects, since this Good Friday, I bid you a blessed day, and hope things will improve. Really glad to hear from you, and thanks for the kind words.

Interesting about the Switcher View on AS&E, I haven't learned about the other View, I have to check that out. As for the Smoke, I am saving different examples for smoke types from others that I have changed in my Loco's Config.txt file, and there are several variations. That's a work in progress thing for sure.

Just take the little time you have from school as you can to do your route, School is very important and expensive, I remember all to well when I was in College early 70's, crazy times and I was working a Job too!

I will say, that working in Trainz will help you unwind some.

Good luck with your school project, I'm pulling for you.

Take care.

Roadtrip in Aussie Outback, ckg for errors, track issue, new main line pre run etc!

 A good Saturday to all on this holiday weekend,

I hope everyone is doing well, I getting busy for Family Birthday party tomorrow, lots to do, and see some family coming in out of town.

OK so lets see what we have going in Mega Merge Land, I have pretty much got all the broken Tracks, BO (bad order, not working acronym) switches, Signals etc fixed, or R&R'd back into the Outback areas, not as bad as it is some of the other parts of my layout where whole Yard Tracks are missing or pointing to the sky like weeds, LOL, so below we are in some Amtrak Power, and Switcher combo, taking Freight and Mail Cars, with some dedicated Amtrak Auto-racks, can't believe what Amtrak has that I have never seen out and about.

We are picking up this up at the old Sugar Cane Mill, which I guess has been re purposed to something else, because unless I have bring in Narrow Gauge here, there is no large gauge cars to bring in Sugar Cane. I didn't know that is what this factory was till I checked it in my inventory. :'( I'll figure something out, or replace it with another type of Mill operation bldg later.

After we finish our Shunt of Amtrak Loads, will head out the main.

This is our yard here, and we have Milwaukee freight fully loaded, he is just stopped to pick up fuel and sand if necessary, do a crew change too. Then will head out East on our new mainline I installed. IT goes out and around the back behind the Mountains in the back you see. Saves us going in extra circles in this outback area, and less Switch throwing too!

Here you can see the Mail Cars and Green Freight cars in the back, the Amtrak Auto Load Racks are on the Right here. I'm wondering if Amtrak ever had any dedicated Caboose's, does anyone know?

I put another Roads Caboose on the back for safety purposes, I'm sorry, I'm old school and still like Cabooses vs FRED units on the end of my Freights! These tracks here were OK, I didn't have to make any repairs or Vertex leveling like the rest of the areas.

Now here is where things change, this is the new main line cut through Farmlands, and we might put a small Silo and spur here or there, but that's for future. I had to cut the Farmers growing area on one the squares upper golden white grain area, but he was well compensated for our new easement, we are good neighbors with the Growers and Farmers, we do what benefits us both, he will get rail trans load, Silo or Small Diesel Fuel Offloading service's Etc. if he needs it, and will get new revenue business.... We don't bully our way around this area, we make friends not enemy's.

Our track is high quality single weld, and good road bed, so we don't make a lot of noise, and we blow our horn only at the crossing in the back. Speed is 25-40 MPH thru here for now with the Curves. I think will probably add a Track Grease Lubricant unit too for this S Curve to retard excessive wear on the inside curve tracks.

Here is large push out view here, you can see the Farm Fields, one on the left was cut back a bit for our Track easement.

This area is so Rustic, I really like the colors, wait till you see the new waterway I added in this area, I think the next set of pictures will show it.

So today, I'm doing a lot of Switching and running the new main line, that connects to South West USA I think it is, more open areas like this outback area. My aim is to see how the Signal Aspects are for correctness,

Do I have enough Signals or too many.

Is the Grade % right, or to steep, is the track aligned correctly, or does it exhibit bind spots.

Are the Colors of the Texture OK, or doing I need to do some more color swatches?

Checking to see how the Mountains and Hills look. I not the best in this area, I just try to make them look as natural as I can.

Now as for Plants, I need to do a whole lot of work, removing the Trees the don't belong, and Plant some in this area so it doesn't look so barren.

As you see there are a lot to do to keep me busy.

:wave:Want wish you all a safe and blessed Easter Folks, thanks for visiting.

Checking the new Main Line East to City Country USA Merge

Evening all,

Amtrak is headed East on the new Main Line to City County Route, had to adjust my Signals a bit on distance. Below is water extension I made going East.

Overhead here to show a larger view of the area as we head out.

About another 5 miles out will go thru a tunnel, you see this on the next set of shots I post.

I was able to put some more texture color in the mountains ahead of us, and now they are not such a drab desert sand and dark grey shadowy cast. Trees will be added later, once I find what type need to go here.

We are driving across the Valley enjoying the view, Signal Aspects are on Que so far. Across to the right is a new Bridge over River Crossing, that line will merge into the tunnel with us.

Once we go thru the Tunnel, the two main lines will merge into one on the other side.

Originally I had a one track tunnel, but it was too much of log jam, so I divided the tracks, with Signal control everything works well, and if we do get heavy traffic, we have plenty of main line to stack our trains between yards if necessary. Because I have a smaller yard on the City USA that will handle some extra traffic, and I can put in more staging yards too, if I desire. All in good time.

That's all for tonight.

Thanks for dropping in folks.

Aussie Waterway and Track check continues II

Good Day all,

:'( Been busy removing a sick Tree from our several years of drought, nothing like a good workout that's for sure!

Now for the Trainz part, we came across the Valley expanse on our new cut in main line, thru a short Tunnel, and out to Red Lights all across, because we are coming into a new area, "City Country USA Route", and this the circle thru position of their main lines headed to Passenger Downtown on Right, and on the left where we are headed, it go into high Canyons with deep mining pit yet to be installed. As soon as Dispatch clears the main switch for us we be on our way, but I believe we have meet with BNSF work train at this junction?

And here he is, just 3 mins later, but that won't impact our schedule. Well done by dispatch.

He is taking the Southern Valley main to the Outback Freight yard. He is pulling our newly downloaded Terminal Cabooses, Red Yellow, and Green. And with the kind help of Railhead001, I was able to clone one and make it a shade of Gray. So I'm learning a little more about changing Asset Colors, hats off to you "Reskinners"......

Took a quick shot our meet here.

Our switch will clear in about 5 mins as BNSF steams by us.

That's is for now,

I downloaded DAP's new "Portland Terminal RR 2"

"Portland Terminal Railroad is a jointly operated by the BNSF and the UP railroads. It services industries located in Guild's Lake Industrial Park, Portland, Oregon. This route was created from Goggle Maps satellite and street views. If there is was any indication that trackage once existed, it is included in this route. Route includes 99 industry set-out locations which can accommodate anywhere from 1 to 12 freight cars. Era is 1990 - 2010."......

It is so well done with huge shunting capabilities. Very compact Route too.

Thanks for visiting my friends. (remember you are more than welcome to make your comments)

Ashland Central Sys Rte, Terminal Cacoose Galore & invasion of U50C's on display

Good Sat all,

Been busy comforting a close friend, who as I speak was just given a week to live due to Tragic Cancer spread. I plan on going to see him again today and the next several days. Very tough time for his Spouse and Family.

So let's move back to happier things here, I downloaded another Route, a few days ago, "Ashland Central System" from
Author "Michael Ferrell (Leeferr)"

Author's Notes:

"This route is a fictional route that is about 75 miles long and is primarily a coal hauling route with some branch lines for logging and mines. You can email me for a file containing route maps and excel spreadsheet containing a list of products at all industries."

================================================================================
This really nice route, nicely documented etc. as noted above. Below is a Image of the Route as it looks now.

I didn't have this quite ready to post the other day, these are the BNSF Terminal Caboose assortment, thanks to Railhead001 for the great assistance and sharing the information on these along with a lot of good info on Amtrak Equipt views to.

Here is a color change on the Red one to Grey with Paint.Net, I just learning about Cloning Assets and adjusting Color Schemes from Railhead001, thanks for your tutelage.....As I can I will go thru my other Assets and see what I can to do to change some color patterns.

Special Thanks to Dave Snow on his U50C units he made for us. I grabbed a whole bunch due to power output of these unusual looking Locomotives, I'm also looking for U50 "D" s if they around anywhere???????

I am an old SP lover too, so I was amazed to see one of these in SP livery, now that I think about it, I remember seeing some these on SP Freighter's in So Cal area, didn't realize till now what they where. Small world!

Another side shot of these mighty Giant's

Excerpt from Dave Snow's model here along with other contributors too:

"General Electric U50 Demonstrator Locomotive lettered for General Electric (Fictional) with Arn. Thanks to berez for the excellent engine sound and norfolksouthern37 (Justin Cornell) for the bogies. Thanks to Erik (ekankal) for beta testing this locomotive. Thanks to the Jointed Rail guys for the use of ARN.

Locomotive Information: The U50 rode on four two-axle trucks, grouped in pairs linked by span bolsters, giving a wheel arrangement of B+B-B+B. The trucks and bolsters were re-used from scrapped UP turbine locomotives built by GE during the 1950s. The U50 was built in response to the Union Pacific Railroad's requirement, issued in the early 1960s, for a 15,000 hp (11,200 kW) 3-unit locomotive intended to replace the turbines. The design was effectively two U25B locomotives on a single frame; each diesel engine and generator powered only the two trucks at the same end. Three were delivered to the UP in October 1963, and three to the Southern Pacific Railroad in May and June 1964. Other locomotives built to this requirement were the EMD DD35 and the ALCO Century 855.

The Southern Pacific kept the three but did not order any more. They were kept on the roster until the late 1970s, but were often sidelined. SP's units gained the nickname Baby Hueys from the cartoon character of the same name. Original numbers were #8500-8502; they were later renumbered #9950-9952. Southern Pacific's three units differed from the Union Pacific U50s by having a cab door and headlights in the hood beneath the front windows.

The Union Pacific was more satisfied with their three, and ordered 20 more. A batch of 12 were delivered between July and September 1964, while a final eight were built May through August 1965. They were numbered #31-53.

Most were withdrawn from service in 1973 and 1974 and traded-in to GE for more modern high-powered units, although Southern Pacific's three survived in service until 1977.

The U50 is sometimes inaccurately referred to as the U50D, a back-formation from the U50C name given to the six-axle units. The name is incorrect and was never used by the manufacturer or the railroad. The U50 did not ride on D trucks in any case. It is also sometimes referred to as the U50B, but this is incorrect as well. Some[who?] references erroneously give the wheel arrangement as B-B+B-B."

Just saw this 4x4 Auto, can't for the life of me, figure out where I got this one from, I must of been looking for some snow plow combo's and downloaded for my Mountainous areas?

That's it for now, folks, I bid you a good weekend, and thanks for dropping by.

Amtrak moving some Freight II (Aussie Outback to City Country USA)New Main test phase

Good Monday to all,

We are snaking thru the farm fields on the new Main I installed last week.

And I have news on new Coal Country Route I just downloaded yesterday, but will touch on that in the next post (Scratchy did a bang up job!)

Downloaded some Wood Chip Cars from JR, thanks for the nice freeware, and some Dirty weathered F7A Amtrak locos. Few other odds and ends.

So back to the main line, we are set 50 MPH, but with the S Curve I need to cut it back a bit, that's too fast, probably 25-35 in here, I need to do some tests with Passenger Trains too?

Once we clear the last 1/2 of the "S" curve, we can open the Notch up.

We are checking some of Rural Aussie Outback here for Switch and Curve alignments, after much re orienting the Tracks and Ground level, which were way out whack, so far the ride is predictably smooth.

We have made it over 3 Tiles across the N/West corner of the Outback, thru the Tunnel here (Scheduled meet with BNSF MOW headed West) Signals on Que, and perfect light aspects.

Now looking at the 3 tracks on left, those go to downtown Passenger, and the single split on middle left, goes to a Steel Mill and other industrial sites, I may in the future? Not sure yet, put a reverse loop out of the tunnels left Track to be able to head the other way, giving us a WYE here? Have to think about it. However there is more than one way to do it in this City Country USA route, there are several options to work with.

We are headed to Blue Sky Mining District on this leg of the Route, lots of Farm Fields here, and will take a Switch 2 miles ahead, just before the mine cutoff, and head into high mountain area. You can see the mountains ahead, too bad my Video Card can't paint them at this distance, I may have to play with my Game settings a bit more, or just wait for Microsoft Game Mode (Creators Update to come in) that might solve a lot, as I hear it will give me at least 5% more in performance with Games such as Trainz?

OK, Blue Sky mine is to the left behind the Trees here, we are headed to Right Leg, about 2% to 3% uphill Grade through some awesome Canyons.

We are pulling up the hill here, notice the Colors are changing, I need to add more Plants and Trees here, it's a bit sparse for me.

:D My little Amtrak Switcher is working nice with main power in front, it's just what we needed to get up the hill, perfect Gearing, and we will not hit over 50MPH so it wont hurt the lower Gear speed.

 Time to say so long, thanks for dropping by,

Coal Country Drive thru

This is next Route Coverage............More pics to be posted, testing new route Today and Tomorrow.

Sorry it took a little more time to post, I lost my close Friend to Cancer Tues,, I have to say it is one terrible disease, especially when it metastasizes. At least now he is in a much better place, and his wife is trying to make the best of it for now.

So back to Coal Country, it is one beautiful and functional Route, there is so much work and detail put into this by Scratchy, hats off to you sir, job well done. and this route is for sure a keeper. Money very well spent.

This Rail Fanning Session to show what the Route has, we exit the 2nd Tunnel I believe,,a fantastic Sunset in process, as I try to snap pictures.

3 trains are working here, this is a Junk Train, mixed freight going the other way.....

We have a Empty Log Train here, and the Engines will do a runaround, to take the cars over to the loading facility, I am having an issue with the Engine trying to clear a path to the consist? Anyone else have this issue......?

These 2 Engines will split apart? I don't understand that, once the cars are loaded, you would need both engines?

The Engine closest to us, gets hung up on the switch clearance on the other end, so much, that's its night fall, and the Engine is stopped on the other end of this Ladder Track.

It's getting darker as we creep about 3-4 miles per hour.

So that's it for now, will come back to this later with more pictures, maybe someone will know why this occurs, maybe AI has an issue that I don't understand.

Night all and have a great Friday........

Amtrak moving some Freight III & Construction Changes, New Rolling Stock Etc.

Good Sat all,

Hope everyone had a great week, I got to see my Dentist and finally fix a Broken Tooth, with a new one, I am one happy camper, now I can enjoy my Chips, will leave it at that!

So we are taking our Test Amtrak Freight up the hills in Country City USA, I really like the climb at 2.0% to 2.5%, great curves, beautiful Southwest coloring in the deep canyons, and oh BTW, see that deep canyon below to the left of our Train, that's goiing to become a mining area.,it's perfect and will have a spur line from far away that will reach into to it for loads,, I don't know what the commodities will be yet, it will be a while as this is one of my future plans, once I get thru this large mega route.

I also Plan to have the Spur go into a Tunnel below, and back to somewhere else as way to take the loads out at an easier % grade. Have done this with other routes and it works well in a confined area such as this, where clearances and height distances are of concern. I don't want to impact the natural land formations too much.

OK her is a small area in City Country USA, where I carved out an area for Mining and Power Plants, and I decided it just never flowed right, so I buldozed this whole area last weekend and will start over and re lay the Buildings, making it less items and more open. I think I will only have the Power Plant, and not the Mining area.....I have to play with first and do the musical Furniture thing, putting Buildings in, and switching things around, before I ever lay the Tracks.

Now below is the original area of Tracks shows the design, looks good from above, but just not enough room to move around in, so that's why I need to stream line it better, and remove some Clutter.
When I brought these cars in, I just did not like my Spur clearances, and switching points, yes I could have brought smaller Rail Cars in, but it just did not feel right..........I know it sounds funny, but when something is awkward, you can fool everyone else, you can't fool yourself, so why not change this now, and make it right, than put up with it.

Just another View as I Shunted these cars in place.

Also did some Color Skin changes on old Amtrak MOW Cars Etc with the kind help of Railhead001, he has taught me a lot about customizing assets by Clone Procedure, so here is a shout out to you "Railhead001", and link below to his sight. I encourage you to go and check it out, very cool ideas he shares for sprucing up boring areas of your route!

https://forums.auran.com/trainz/sho...-enjoyment-out-of-Trianz-Model-Railroad/page7

One of things I enjoy is having different and unusual cars that can carry odd items, you don't see to often, so I got some Center Depressed and Heavy Weight multi Truck Depressed Flat Cars here to move Transformers, and heavy Steel Construction Pieces........I think this comes out well. And will be a cool looking Train to boot!

A little closure in Picture, is Caterpillar Equip on Flatcars with Loaded Ballast Cars too. In the Far Distance is more Amtrak Auto Loads ready to move out tomorrow.

Wait till I show the big daddy of all heavy special move Transfer Cars, coming up on the next post.

I played with Coal Country last night till the wee hours of the morning, it is so fun, and so well done, details are amazing.

That's it for now, thanks for coming by.........

R.R. can do the heavy lifting when needed! & Redoing CYN Power Plant W.I.P.

Good Monday all,

I have been a busy camper, the first picture below, that Canyon area has been cleared in the top, and I wanted to show you one last view of what it did look like. At the time I did this, 6 months ago, I felt I had things the way I wanted it, but like anything else, as time and Train Runs later, things change and you find out what you thought was great and practical, it works out not so well in perspective, I had crowded to much in a small area.

So will Raze the land and redo it.

I also had to re install Coal Country, I don't know how I messed the route up, but some how in my infinite wisdom, I re saved the Route in my Name, and blew out the Sessions, so that is corrected now, and I will be more careful....Thank goodness for backup files!

Also had downloaded some Center Depressed Flatcars, and all was well with the first 3 of them, but the 4th for some reason, the Bogeys to frame is out of whack, they need to be lower, probably something to do with TANE? So for now I deleted that one, I didn't feel like messing with it in PEV's Mesh utility.......

The next several pictures show some interesting heavy lift components,

if your interested, use this search link,

Now I took this little Snippet off Google so you read about what was done with this Asset!

Rob4Rails's CEBX 800 Repaired

8/31/2012
2 Comments
Rob4Rails has released copyright on his CEBX 800 to allow it to be repaired and uploaded to the DLS. I had to add a lot of track to my display route to fit this monster!

Uploading to the DLS as one giant CDP..... hopefully the DLS can figure it out, otherwise, I'll have to upload it as 20 different pieces. All the pieces are repaired and working in TS10, and I even included a loaded and empty consist so you don't have to put all the pieces together by yourself. Just go into the consists section and plop it down on the tracks. I really resisted the temptation to monkey around with this: I thought about alpha-ing out the couplers, attaching Cloaked Ghost's, and putting it on Jointed Rail's S-2 bogeys. These bogeys are pretty reflective. I may yet go in and strip out the specularity. I might even upgrade the bogeys and couplers at a later date.

Again, a big thank you to Rob4Rails (and his one and only post!) for allowing me to fix this for everyone!
What I have come to find out, there are different configurations of this type model in the Real Life R.R. depending on the type load to be carried. So this particular was a bear for the Author to make it load into DSL, and superb is all I can say. Each Piece is numbered, 21 in all pieces, I am happy I ran across this, just by accident after doing a search on DSL for Heavy Transport/lift items. For my situation, I put double power in the front and single in the back, it seems to do just fine.

I also liked the color scheme of these CN units to go with the consists.

We also have Tanker for extra Fuel and Hydraulic reserves as needed. We are running about 15MMPH as we come into the Curves, as this articulated consist will hang way over on the Rail Curves, it's designed on purpose, but we don't want to pull off the rails and end up in the Dirt.

If that was to happen, your talking catastrophic damage and cost to re rail with heavy lift Cranes to brought out into this area., not a few hours job.

Another Picture from afar, I wanted to show how large this consist really is.

Remember early here I said this designed to handle overhangs, and so far we didn't take out the Cross Bucks here, a few feet to spare.

Pre Planning the route is extremely important on big moves like this.

We coming thru Blue Sky Siding here, will continue on up the hill.

This curve will be a little tight, and speed is reduced to walking speed, plus a bridge ahead has to crossed over very slow, due to external Weight and Sway issues.

You see speed limit is 25MPH, however for us, it's 5-15MPH max!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures, and the link I gave you also has some YTube videos of similar equipment.

Thanks for coming by this weekend.

Nice shots Blue. A little peak at the things I'm up to at the moment:

As you can see in the broad view of the valley curve, I've stripped most of the trees out, going to be looking to replace them with billboards to improve the performance and perhaps the appearance of the area if I do it right. Aside from that, not much has happened in New Castle or Heather as of yet, as I want to get my tree problem sorted first.

 Helloooooooo Southern1581,

Great to see and hear from you, Looks like you have done some CLEAR CUTTING there, wow! All good when you find your replacements.

I really like the colors of your New Castle Power, nice contrasts there.

I downloaded some 6, 8, 12 Axle Depressed Cars, unfortunately I have a problem with Phantom Bogey's either not showing, or showing up in Double under the Frame, I shot a note to Ben Dorsey, hoping he can shed some light on it......Probably something to do with T:ANE environment.

Hope all is well in School, another couple of months you get some much deserved Vacation Time.

Thanks for Dropping in. ;)

Good evening Folks,

Today has been a good day, my thank you's go out to Normhart, Ben Dorsey for helping me solve the Multi Bogey issue with the Depressed Flatcar asset, it now is up to snuff, and moving construction equipment. And while finding the Right Bogeys to fix it, I also found out one my other Depressed Flatcars uses separate double pair of Bogeys that need to be assembled in Real Time, like a jig saw puzzle, and it works great too. So I learned a few things today.

Now to the Route, I moving Easterly on route, as I move thru City Country USA, our next connection part of the Merge is an Alpine Route.

The picture below shows some large Aspen type mountains, sorry about the View, but my weak GPU doesn't draw out to far. So looking at this section, I have added new Tile on the Left to entend these Alps out and blend into my USA Route.

Looking at the edge of City Country USA hills, we need to blend this together.

Over here you can read my notes in Red.

Across the divide, is Alpine side, there is much to do here, lots of Track ripping up, and relocating.

This picture shows the area of interest shows what I intend to with the existing yard.

Follow the Red Line below, you can see part of my Merges and the diverse areas, prototypical oh heck no! An Adventure as you drive, oh yeah, this is fun for me. The large Red arrow is the area under construction and just behind the Arrow to left as well.

So when I merged 19x pieces together, this part of the 19, we have a long ways to go, but it is the adventure of a lifetime for me, and when it's work, work, it's not fun anymore, this is fun for me, keep's my mind sharp as face the challenges ahead, the height differences, etc.

We started with Australia Outback, then City Country USA, and now into an Alpine Route, of which for some reason I didn't write it down. OOPS

Anyway, so there is much to do, but I really like the Authors Mountains he made, and the way his houses were selected for the small townships.

That's about it for now, I have lots of smoothing and texturing at the merge points, I will show more progress as I do this W.I.P Route.

Thanks for dropping in Folks, I really appreciate your interest in my project here.

Local UP Freight moves, and New Air Dam Car for Testing? Southern Ca. USA

Good Friday to all my friends,

I took these pictures last week, and I wanted to share, when I'm out Cycling I see some interesting things, just happen to be at the Right place and the Right time, I saying if I was 5 mins later, or earlier I would have missed these shots, I hope you like.:D

These tracks get both Local and hot shot freights moving thru. We have local with Chem Car Tankers pulling out of small industrial siding with Empties, on the other side, a Chicago bound hot shot Freight is moving thru on Main #2, I think. Metrolink and Amtrak at times will share these tracks too.

This is same train using Gen-sets, which the Engineers live with, but don't really care for them, but they appear to save a good amount of Fuel.

I was able to get a shot here, sorry about all the Electrical lines, this area is heavy industrial part of Town. City of Industry, aptly named of course, you can't imagine how many Trucks we have rolling thru our area.

Here is the Chem Plant from across the Street, this picture was taken on another day, when they are delivering Tanker Loads.

Ok, and the special shot of the day, I thought this was a wrecked Car going back to the ports, when I got closer, Voila, it's a mock up AIR DAM to streamline the Boxy front of the double stack, I guess they are in Testing Phase to see how it works.

Excuse me I mispoke here!!!!!!!,,,ggrrrrr, uninformed as I am.........It's and "Arrow Wedge"

That's all for now, if I find out more about it I POST later......

Have a good day all, I'm off and running.

Thanks Blue! Yeah, I've been hard at work with the chainsaw, and also my paint brush, it's a little hard to tell but I have replaced my old dead leaves texture with a new and more high res version. Gonna put in some more work on it though so it all looks extra sharp. Also, thanks for the compliments on the NCNO paint scheme, ironically enough there was very little planning behind that scheme, all I knew I wanted on it going in was actually the color contrasts I wanted to make, after that I just made a blank skin and went from there. Looks like you've been having some fun of your own, stitching mountains together and chasing interesting trains around. You have some very nice shots here, keep up the good work! Have a good night!

UP ArrowWedge additional Info

Hello again Folks,

I googled the UP Wedge item, and here is the info and this picture is one of Prototypes that looks really Cool, compared to the Photo I took the other day, so that one must be test model they are still using to run it around on our lines?

Union Pacific Unveils New Aerodynamic Technology for Double-Stack Intermodal Trains

Employee-designed Arrowedge® piloted for fuel and related emissions reductions

Omaha, Neb., September 03, 2013
Union Pacific unveiled in August its Arrowedge® production version, piloting the employee-designed aerodynamic technology for fuel and locomotive emissions reductions on double-stack intermodal freight trains. Years in development, the Arrowedge® is the latest innovation in Union Pacific's ongoing commitment to design, build and implement fuel-saving technologies.

"The Arrowedge® represents Union Pacific's focus on pioneering technology for operational and environmentally sustainable gains that ultimately result in enhanced customer service and community stewardship," said Mike Iden, Union Pacific - general director - Car and Locomotive Engineering. "We are excited to see the results of this innovation in action and how it can springboard further research and development."

A double-stack intermodal train accommodates freight containers placed two-high, one on top of the other, for better ride quality and rail car utilization. Positioned on top of the first freight container, the 48-foot Arrowedge® has a tapered body that allows air to more easily flow around the train's top frontmost containers. This reduces aerodynamic drag for more efficient transport of customers' goods. In addition, drag reductions decrease the amount of locomotive power required to propel the train.
Union Pacific holds two United States patents for the Arrowedge®, with additional U.S. and Canadian patents pending. The company expects to introduce the technology into double-stack train service between Joliet, Ill., and Long Beach, Calif., this month.
Trains are the most fuel-efficient way to transport bulk cargo on land. A single Union Pacific train can replace 300 trucks, decreasing emissions and reducing stress on the nation's deteriorating road and bridge infrastructure. Union Pacific can move one ton of freight 480 miles on a single gallon of diesel fuel, the equivalent of a standard mid-size car getting roughly 200 miles per gallon.

 Hello Southern1581,

Thanks for dropping in, you know I looked at your Texture, and thought, it looks really good, now realizing what you said, it sure does look better resolution wise over the older one you were using.

Yup on interesting Freights and Mtn Building, I having a great time tooling around in Country USA and Alpine areas. :p It gets easier to Mod the Merges so to speak. Funny thing is, I never know how something is going to turn out, I have one idea in the old Brain, and sometimes it comes out completely different. As long as it all works that's what fits the bill for me.

Got lots of new Hi Cap Flat and Depressed Flat Cars to play with, also learning to change some of the colors on my Assets with the help of Railhead001 ideas.

Have a great weekend.

Sounds fun. Been having a little fun of my own on the side, while I was up at the museum last Saturday we uncovered an old railroad stool laying around. After a bit of cleaning where we were able to see the colors better, we believe it once belonged to the L&N railroad, and presently it is sitting in my basement undergoing restoration. I have to redo the logo on one side as the paint cracked for some reason, but once I finish it up I'll show you what the finished product looks like.

Heading back down to the museum again tomorrow actually, gonna see what kind of fun I can get into there. Have a great weekend yourself my friend.

Wow, Who knew about an old Stool, that is so cool, definitively be added bonus for Relics, can't find a lot of things like that much more.

Have fun at the Museum.......Great time to unwind for weekend Frolic with Nostalgia.

You gave me an idea, I need to get out to the Orange Empire Museum here in Paris Ca, been a few years since I've visited them! See Link below.

UP Genset Local/Griswold XGT Test/Amtrak Paint changes Etc

Good Sunday evening to all,

It has been a busy weekend doing repairs for some friends Dry Wall issues and it looks like we got our wish for some much needed Rain after some local Forest Fires we incurred the last 2 weeks.

And below is UP Gen-set Loco making Chem deliveries to a Plant, it good to see some loco Plant deliveries going on, not like it was 20 yr's ago.

Now we switch over to Aussie Land, and I plopped a Griswold Crossing in for a test, by the luck of Trainz, it works fantastic, I just need to learn the timing adjustments and I'll have something that works perfect, since all the Crossing gates work, but no lights, for what reason, I haven't a clue, but these, Griswolds are made by BNSF50. Thank you sir for great working with excellent instructions Asset!

In this picture I was doing a Range Test for the activation points on new crossing Asset, perfect without a hitch. I have to drop a ruler her to check the Feet count, to relate to the settings I using. You can see the Consist moving west from the other side of the Radio Antenna.

Here is a lookout of the main yard for Aussie Outland, it's well laid out and works well for me. We have several ways to enter and exit this yard to avoid congestion spots.

One of these Amtrak Loco MOW's has had it's color lightened up & the Hopper it's tugging along had the color faded too, so there is some added contrast, thank you Railhead001 for the great guidance.

Another view of the loco's and some Terminal Cabooses by BNSF, they are truly unusual pieces of equipment, there is MOW Grey Cranes and Gondola for support.

Now in the next session of Photo's I will show the new main line connection to Alpine Route, still in rough stages, but the Main is in, :hehe: it's on the other side of the hill that's in the middle of construction......

 That's all for today, take care all, see you in a couple of days, and thanks to the wonderful Asset Creators here that helped me find some really unique heavy duty and heavy capacity Flat Cars etc.......Let take good care of our creative folks, without them, I wouldn't enjoy what I found this week!
