Settings window gone

My settings window no longer shows. No matter in what screen or mode I am, Main menu or driver/surveyor etc, I don't get the settings window. Under driver/surveyor I get the 'V' and 'X' boxes but that's it. Change of screen resolution or fullscreen/windowed also doesn't help.

Any suggestions other than reinstalling? Or is there a settings file I can just directly edit? Anything is better than reinstalling :(

So if you start Platinum then go to "Driver/Surveyor" you don't have the "menu" icon on top left? (Three horizontal lines.) In game Settings is on that icon.

More detailed settings are on the Launch panel "Trainz Settings" then "Performance"

I have the menu, I have the settings options, but the settings window does not pop up. Just the 'ok' and 'cancel' buttons ( V/ X)

Meanwhile I have installed a second copy of trs19. This one works correct, but if I point it to the 'old' folder I have the same problem. I still want to try and salvage my old settings since they work pretty sweet.

So now the question is: Wich file or folder contains my settings?

At the Launcher, run a database repair.

Click on Developer on the top menu bar.
Click on Repair database.

Already did that, didn't change anything. I don't think the settings are in the database? Wouldn't make sense to me from a logical point of view anyway....

You say you now have a working 2nd install. Yet you are still trying to salvage the other. Why? Have you tried pointing the new install to the "old" User Data folder? Or just reinstall everything to this new working install. What is so complicated about "settings" that you feel you need to salvage the old?

I pointed the new install to the old data folder, and the same problem appears. So I know the problem is in the data folder. The main reason I want the old installation to work is that the way the settings are set everything is smooth and exactly to my liking, while fiddling with the new installation hasn't achieved that as of yet. I run 4K windowed stutterfree, I would like to keep it that way.

The only reason I wanted to get in the settings to begin with was because I wanted to see if I could turn off the textbox that appears when I change cameras. Now that I know there is a problem, meh....

How can there not be a simple txt .cfg file to manually edit settings?.

Sorry, I just don't understand I guess. How could (if even possible) manually editing any .cfg file be any easier than just setting the options in game? (Rhetorical) But... being able to save and load config sets? Yes, that would be nice!

Sometimes a programmer will need to have a well organized text file for their purposes as they develop or fix. Unfortunately, translating the functionality to a graphics selection display very often looses precise definition. I tend to agree about text files, containing actionable links, being preferable. Besides, the pretty display instructions is one more place for bugs.

Many of the buttons, interfaces, and what not are actually content, then there's something that somehow has become corrupted. These are assets too that are controlled through scripts just the same as interactive industries and other user content such as signal and driver scripts.

Start up TRS19 from the PC desktop. At the Launcher, click on settings and Install tab. Note the path where the data is located. I recommend writing this down unless you have an outstanding memory, or know where the folder is. This is important if there's a possibility of having more than one data folder because you've done a second install.

Close the Launcher.

Navigate to the folder where your Trainz TRS19 data is installed.

Once you navigate to that location, open up the Cache folder.

Open up Libraries.

Delete the content of this folder. The process may pause even though the progress bar says 100%.

Once everything is cleaned up, run an EDR.

Start the Launcher again.

Click on Developer, press the CTRL button while choosing Repair database.

When you start up again, this will repopulate the scripts as needed and perhaps the built-in data will be restored. If not, then there's something here that somehow got completely hosed and there's no other way to restore proper operation without using a fresh install.

If you have created any new routes, then you can easily transfer them over to your fresh install using Content Manager to export them to CDP files.
