I would please like some tips on learning to optimize settings.

I am now trying out driving TS 2022 with my new $2,000 computer. There are still some occasional "fish bites" on the screen. Random flashes of light and hints frame shudder while viewing a running locomotive in lineside or chase.

Will there always be some degree of frame shudder in Trainz regardless of settings, software, drivers and hardware?

Zotac Gaming graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super, 30,000+ on the benchmark
AMD Ryzen 9 12-core
32GB RAM
Samsung SSD 2.50", 1 TB
Samsung M.2 drive, 2 TB
Microsoft Windows 11 Home
EVGA Supernova 550 W power supply, modular

My NVIDIA GeForce card has the most up to date driver. Windows 11 Home is up to date. The MSI A5 socket motherboard is up to date. The BIOS is flashed up to date. Trainz 2022 is installed on the C drive and no part of it is on the M.2 D drive.

TS 2022 is maxed out on all settings and draw distances except: Shader quality is LOW and Clutter and TurfFX are both OFF.

I want to learn how to set the following to optimize Trainz graphic behaviors:

1. Windows 11 settings
2. TS 2022 settings
3. BIOS settings
4. NVIDIA settings
5. GeForce Experience settings

What is the best way to install Trainz 2022 and local data if one has both a C: SSD drive and a D: M.2 expansion slot drive in their game rig?

1/ Windows 11 settings: The only thing you need to do in Windows is to create an exception for Trainz in Windows Defender if you are using it, or your particular flavour of antivirus. Defender is excellent quality antivirus.
2/ TS 2022: I would reduce your draw distance to 10000 metres, which is plenty far enough for most routes. In the settings tab on the launcher reduce shadows to medium. This will reduce the number of objects casting a shadow. That will get rid of stutters on all but the heaviest scenery with an RTX4070. At ultra shadows, everything is casting a shadow and is the most common cause of stuttering and slower framerates. Shadow resolution should be 4096.
3/ BIOS: These days there really isn't anything you need to worry about in the BIOS unless you are going to overclock the processor, which I would not recommend on your new system anyway. (voids warranty)
4/ nVidia settings: The graphics settings should be fine as they are as Trainz doesn't take advantage of DLSS.
5/ GeForce experience settings: Set to notify you of driver updates
When you have your Trainz setup updated to the latest build, I would at least transfer the database onto the M.2 drive as it is faster than the SSD.
Happy Trainzing on the new rocket ship.
cheers

Hi,
I would suggest that you use one SSD for the operating system, and another for the Trainz install (both program and data). The data folder can grow quite large, and you don't want it limiting the OS.
Check your antivirus exclusion setting for both program AND data folder.
