rotation controll

Yo, i'm on 2004--somebody please tell me that there is a better way to rotate items. I've discovered that holding down CTRL improves things, but even this sucks. There has got be be a better way to control this. I am praying...

also, similarly with height control--any way to do this in more controlled, smaller increments? it's damn near impossible to get desired results given the standard control, so far as my experimentation has shown.

Holding the shift key while changing the height changes the height adjustment to 1m increments I believe.
