When hauling across the vast AU expanse, my train only reaches a maximum speed of '35'mph (which actually looks more like 15-20 from outside-cam, and the frame rate is otherwise fine). When I started the run, the train easily achieved the 60mph speed limit and even had to be carefully bridled. Then, a couple of miles in: 35mph max. :[
With a 4-loco headed manifest, that limit just doesn't seem right; along with the general appearance of the landscape (open, very flat country with some low wrinkling), and with the circumstantial fact that the scenario is setting the top speed at 60. There are no towns, cities, bends, or other ostensible reasons for the imposed speed limitation. I don't see a grade reading on the Trainz HUD, and the map's gradient layer did not indicate some terrible grade my train is fighting against. So presuming the designers of the scenario didn't have the pointless notion to make the long, single-track route crawl up a colossal Martian shield volcano whose wearisome grade would be invisible even unto the far horizon, I can only deduce there is some bug in the scenario that is deflating an otherwise very enjoyable and relaxing route that was obviously created for just a long, sightseeing cross-country cruise on the open rails.
Has anyone else encountered this problem with the scenario 'Robe River Iron'? Does anyone know of a solution to this, or perhaps a way to edit something like a (mechanically-enforced) speed limit out entirely of this or any other scenario?
Incidentally; other indications that point to the bug explanation are 1) the cast shadow of the train does not 'connect' at the wheels and instead suggests the whole beast is floating above the desert like a mirage. and 2) the sun randomly just switches hemispheres in an instant, turning late afternoon into morning, etc. Not a complaint at all; it's a really lovely scenario and I appreciate the effort and work to build such things, but it casts light on the speed limit problem, which does make the scenario very frustrating to play.
Any help would be appreciated.
