Regretful apologies to everyone

I do not normally post on here now for various reasons. However, the loss of a charismatic person as beany, is a loss to the world in its self.
May he rest in peace and know the love of all "trainzers" are there to wish him well whereever he maybe.Respects and best wishes to the family. There will be many with long long memories of "beany" etc.... HE will surely be missed.

I just now got the latest Trainz News in my inbox, and the absolutely fantastic tribute that Auran did on him made me cry --- whenever I had a sticky problem with Trainz, he was always there on IRC and gave me an answer faster than the speed of light.

Very sad. =(

Salut à toi l'ami TrainZeur!
Tu es parti bien jeune!!!:(

Greeting to you the friend TrainZeur!
You left very young!!! :(

This is such a shock -a feisty, passionate person and one of the most knowledgable, devoted Trainzers and true rail enthusiasts it has ever been my pleasure to know. His contributions to the game and the community as a whole cannot be counted yet alone valued - the friendship of such people is priceless.

My fondest memory comes from York Railfest 2004, we were looking at Deltic 9009 with its cab full of balloons (a guessing game), standing arm-in-arm and laughing at it, it looked so funny... I swear the next time Driver Alastair has an oopsie I will not only keep my good humour but offer a silent prayer that all his signals are green and switches clear in the Great Railway in the Sky.

For those attending the funeral, see you there.

R.I.P. Beanie

Dear All,,

I`m quite shocked......I only found out what happened to Beanpole by reading Paul Hobb`s sticky.

I met Alistair when we all went up to Glasgow for a big railway show. My first meeting with him was with Henk in a pub in the centre of Glasgow the night before the railway show. He really was a very nice fella and he certainly did know his railway stuff. I will miss him.

Bye Beanie.

john
Yes John, I was there too. That was a great weekend.

I'm shocked at this news.

RIP Alastair.

Apologies for not paying tribute to Alastair sooner, but I haven't visited the Trainz Forum lately, and then I recieved Trainz News.

R.I.P. Alastair, you'll be sorely missed by many.

Blessings Be!

Goodbye and God Bless Alastair

Alastair Goodbye a Celi bendithia 'ch 'n hychydig hun. Ewyllysi beunydd bod chennym forever. Rhisiart a Christine xxxxxxxxxx:wave: :'(

Just got home from the funeral and gathering after. A wonderfull funeral that gave Alastair the send off he deserved.
Thanks to Molly and George for a lovely reception after the service. It was a good chance to get together and chat with people i hadn't seen for awhile and to remember Alastair, together.
It just seems so strange that he's gone, i recieved some photos the other day and thought "I must show Alastair these"...

Rest in peace, mate, cheers for the tons of happy memories

Thanks for letting us know how the funeral went, a bit hard for many of us to get there.

R.I.P. Alastair

:(:(:(

I can't find words to describe the funeral that would do it justice. The whole ceremony was a happy rememberance of Alastair.
Members of his family described his life to us {especially earlier times} and the way it was told just made you laugh and then think "Yep, that was Alastair."
The things Alastair knew were mind blowing. It sticks in my mind that a mutual friend at the East Kent Railway, got Alastair to help with the washing up, by asking him about the temperature related reaction of washing up liquid and water {why it only bubbled up with hot water}
I remember riding on the footplate of 427 one day, when Alastair confronted me with a number. To me, it appeared a load of numbers written down on a piece of paper, so i asked Alastair what it meant....
"Oh that's the amount of horsepower we needed to bring a train of this weight up from the gradient from Eythorne to Shepherd Wells"

While I promised a few that I would attend the funeral, I regret to say that I have received some bad news concerning my son who is serving with the Royal Marines in the Middle East. This is an ongoing concern.
To save me writing individual emails to those concerned and especially to Alastair's family, please accept my sincerest apologies and please excuse me from posting this here.
While I didn't know Alastair personally, I felt I knew him via the Forum and I wanted to convey my final respects to him by attending his funeral.
I will eventually contact those concerned. Until then, thank you for allowing this post.
Peter.

farewell

sad news to hear :(
I only knew Alastair as Beanpole or HJP on IRC #trainz and the forum. And I remember lots of hours in chat with him and all the others.
You will truly be missed Beanie! You already are!

"
Niemals geht man so ganz
irgendwas von mir bleibt hier
es hat seinen Platz
immer bei dir.

Never man leaves completely
some part of me stays here
it has its place
always with you.
"
(Refrain of a song of famous german carnival singer Trude Herr)

The trainz driver Alastair will always remind me of you!
Will let Alastatair drive my route on a british loco (and i never ran a british loco on my routes) in trs in tribute!

R.I.P.

BTW: there is a thread about this in german auran forum too: Link
So even the german trainzers pay ther condolences to you Beanie!

see you in heaven

a song for you....

Bruce Springsteen's new song "terry's song"(Yes I know Hjp never liked the boss) fits perfect for HJP. May he rest in peace.

Well they built the Titanic to be one of a kind, but many ships have ruled the seas.
They built the Eiffel Tower to stand alone, but they could build another if they please.
Taj Mahal, the pyramids of Egypt, are unique I suppose.
But when they built you, brother, they broke the mold.

Now the world is filled with many wonders under the passing sun
And sometimes something comes along and you know it's for sure the only one.
The Mona Lisa, the David, the Sistine Chapel, Jesus, Mary, and Joe
And when they built you, brother, they broke the mold.

When they built you, brother, they turned dust into gold
When they built you, brother, they broke the mold

They say you can't take it with you, but I think that they're wrong
'Cause all I know is I woke up this morning, and something big was gone
Gone into that dark ether where you're still young and hard and cold
Just like when they built you, brother, they broke the mold

Now your death is upon us and we'll return your ashes to the earth
And I know you'll take comfort in knowing you've been roundly blessed and cursed
But love is a power greater than death, just like the songs and stories told
And when she built you, brother, she broke the mold

That attitude's a power stronger than death, alive and burning her stone cold
When they built you, brother

So sorry

I am so sorry to learn of this loss. Having just suffered one of my own I can truly understand the feelings running through you and your family right at this time.
My sincere condolences.

Angelah

What happened to the sticky?

Whilst Alastair was an increadible charactor (and an example of why this forum isn't rubbish), it is nearly a month since his tragic death, and I think the moderators have decided that there is no longer merit in having this at the top of the forum. I have to agree really - it's important to remember Alastair, but if we had a sticky for every member that died (it's not fair to have a sticky for some but not others) we'd quickly run out of space and users would need to move to page 2 to see the currently active topics. It's a tough call for someone, but it's about working within realistic limits.

Of course, I'm not a moderator on this forum, but I have been elsewhere and this is what I'd consider rational moderating.

So let's raise our glasses one last time for Beany, and then move on.

BidMod.
