Regretful apologies to everyone

Thanks for posting George's Reply, Alan.

It fills in some much needed background for us, and of course, somewhat highlights for us that life is so precious, and we can lose valued friends so quickly when their road number is called in the Great Engine Shed.

I wish to tell the family of HJP that I am deeply saddend by this tragic turn of events. If a momerial is set up for him i wish to contribute to this wonderus cause. I have been away from the comunity for 6 monhts for resions but i am shocked to see that this happend while i was gone. I makes me glad that I am part of a community that cares for its members.

The community has lost a great member and for that we should all be sad.
Alistar was a model for us all. It is very very said that he has left us, but he has gone on to that big rail yard in the sky

I too have been very shocked at the news of Alastair's passing and I hope that he can find as much solace where he is going as he did with Trainz. I was always impressed that he was there to provide help, the occasional quip (well more than occasional!) and beyond everything else, being up front about who he was.

Whenever I play trainz now I see his virtual face there driving a loco and reminding me of his huge contribution to the game and this community.

I can't think of a better way for him to be remembered.

Now, whenever his virtual self SPADs, derails or otherwise as is his want, its just his way of letting us know he is still around with us, not to be forgotten.

Long live Alastair, Beany and HJP.

Tony

This is truly a great loss for the Trainz community. Alastair was always here always able to help out with something that was not going right for you. My condolences to his family - he will be greatly missed here.

Hi all,

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Alastair's passing.

I met Beany (as he was known then) a couple of years ago when he visited Brisbane; at the Southbank pub meeting a few people have already mentioned, and also the following day when the two of us visited the Ipswich train museum (and spend an hour wandering the streets of Ipswich until we worked out where it was!).

Some good memories, both online and off. Farewell Alastair, and may the leaves on your line never be the wrong kind.

I still cant beleive hes gone, for me personally this has been the 3 weeks from hell. On the Thursday ( a day before this was posted) I also learned of another one of my friends that have died from a Heart attack, that was bad plus other news that has really, really hit me hard, both community related and personal. So this really tops it off. Its glad to know that Allistair was on Trainz at his passing that he was playing the thing he loved most. If it was not 427 then it was trainz. I met him on about 2 or three occasions I think but spoke for hours on end via IRC (when I did venture on) so yeah for me its tinged with great sadness that we will only be able to remember Alistair via Trainz.

One of the fondest memories of Beanie (back then) was in the " Good Years" of trainz. The many chats we had and the jokes we played between Henk, John Banks (and his cheese cake) Ceebee etc etc.... it was fun and I ill always remember those days I am sitting typing this with tears down my cheeks because its so much to take in at the moment. But Alistair / Beanie / HJP is in a better place and will always be fondly remebered by me and others.

All the Best

Hentis

I still can't believe it... He's truly one of the best Trainzers ever. We shall all miss him here.

Our sincerest condolences to his family. May God give you strength and comfort in these trying times.

Sincerely,
Todd

I will miss you HJP

I still can't believe he is really gone, I think it will take a while for all this to sink in. I remember the day I joined he was then under another nick and we talked a few times on Skype. The news took me by surprise and I really had to step out and just do something else.

HJP; you were there when I got here and now I'm here and you are there. Not sure how this has come to happen, but to some degree I'm happy it was pain free as posted earlier by Alan. You won't be easily forgotten.

For you that are now on the big Shed in the sky, I'll be running the midnight express and keeping up the light.

So long good old friend.

I hope that no-one minds but I sent Alistair's family a sympathy card (by snail mail) from myself and the Trainz Community.
I would have liked to have sent it to every-one on this thread to sign, but as you all realize, it would have taken forever.
Cheers
Pete.

Well done, Pete. Thank you from this part.

I wish I knew the words to express my sadness right now.I'll never forget the great conversations and virtual hugs beanie gave out in chat.I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person but after so many years of chatting he was as much family as anyone.I will miss him and can only offer my condolences to his family.

/me gives beanie one last big hug :'(

May he never be forgotten.

Each of us is greater for having known him, and all of us are diminished by his passing. We are a great community, and we have lost a great member, and a great friend. I had an idea. Let's to something in his memory.

How can we honor our departed friend H_J_P???

Anyone else have any ideas about what we could do as a group in memory of our dear departed friend?

Michael

p.s. May all your signals be green forever my friend.

I just can't beleive it !

Alaister has been on those boards from the very start, circa trainz CE, just like me.

Due to an amount of work, i just can't be on these fora everyday. And, i just saw this post now.

I feel deeply sad for the loss of such a Trainzer. All my sympathy to the family.

My friend, you' re now riding a great train, the greastest of them all, and its leading you to Heaven ... May you rest in peace.

I'm really sad ...

André.

Last met Alastair in Toronto, 2003 July 19-20, during an NMRA convention where we had a TOTR exhibition.

Forgot that not everyone would recognize Alastair. Yes, that was him in the blue shirt. Let me go back and add some captions.

WOW, what sad news, :'( He will be missed dearly on these forums...
May the Lord be with his family during this time of loss and sadness.
