Regretful apologies to everyone

Our thoughts are with you and yours at this time, cherish the memories
We lost our son 10 years ago when he was 27 years old and it still hurts.

Hi everyone,

I emailed Alastair's family to pass on my deep sadness on hearing this very sad news. His father has replied and asked to thank everyone. I thought it may be easier just to copy his reply here.

Dear Craig,
I can't express how helpful your email was to us. We would at some point in the future like to see the sticky thread. In the meantime, on our behalf, would you please post a message on the Forum to say how grateful we are for the support you have told us about. You may know that although Alastair was very intelligent, he was disabled with both dyspraxia and Asperger's syndrome. In this context, his relationship with Trainz and the Forum was a fantastic support for him (and therefore us - his father mother and sister) and we really appreciated the fact that he had this outlet that he enjoyed so much. He was actually on Trainz when he passed away. We didn't realise that he knew, and was cared for, by so many people. Please convey our heartfelt thanks to everyone. Yours very sincerely, Georges, Molly and Fae Dussart

He never replyed to my e-mail?

Oh well, I never knew he was disabled.
It may be due to the fact I mentioned about how many replies there where and that the thread is now a Sticky thread and what that meant.

Threads similar to this have not been a Sticky thread the past (that I remember), to me this thread as a Sticky shows how much respect he had.

It is with great shock and sadness that I wish to express my sympathy to Alastair's family and friends. I had the pleasure of knowing Alastair, electronically and personally, having joined Trainz around the same time as him.

Alastair was a vocal advocate and critic of all things Trainz and his contributions will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace, beany.

Lance.

Remembering Alastair

This is very sad news. Alastair was a much valued member of this community right back to the start. I can recall many chats with Alastair on IRC over the years that I was the community relations manager. He was an intelligent young man who openly shared his great enthusiasm and passion for Trainz with us. I know that he encouraged so many others as they worked on their Trainz projects.

As Lance says, his participation in this community will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I can recall many chats with Alastair on IRC over the years that I was the community relations manager.

I too have had many hours in IRC with Alastair and the rest of the guys discussing new features and sometimes just shooting the bull.

Quite shocking news to hear of his passing, I guess it happens when we least expect it.

The Den family extends our condolences on your loss, with the hope that Beanie is in a better place than this crazy world we live in.

He's always been there...

And now he's gone.

When I joined Trainz and the chat, he was there to help a newbie in the mysteries of mirc, always good for a laugh, always quick to help.

We met once in Toronto and spent a day at a TOTR. His passion was his loco and trainz...in that order. And after months of chatting with him, it turned out that he was the same in person.

I will miss him and the support that he gave when he thought I was right, the admonishments when I was wrong. We argued, we laughed, we just talked.

I miss you, Bean.

God Bless....

oh my,
I'm soo sad for this!
Condolences from all the staff and the members of Trainz For Free - Italy.

E- mail from seeseeme

I like many was saddened by the passing of Alistair, aka HJP, and pass on my condolences to his family and close friends. I also thank 'seeseeme' for copying the e-mail from HJP's family acknowledging health issues of Alistair and his love of Trainz and the community. I have had a few health obstacles over the years and to be able to join in to the forum like this and even though I do not contribute a lot as far as technical issues are concerned I use the forums as rehabilitation, especially reading general Trainz posts and becoming part of the community throughout the world.
I will miss the posts from Alistair as there were plenty of very informative posts as well as witty and controversial, all of which makes a forum like this a great place to be part of.

Thank you for the oppurtunity to express my sympathy to the family.

Hi
I have already posted my condolences in an earlier post but I am compelled to make another entry.
I think Alistair is still contributing to our Forum in a big way.
He is showing the whole world that humankind has Love, Compassion and Concern for people we don't personally know. There are no international boundaries and no religious or political borders.
I am physically touched by this sticky and my heart goes out to his Dad, Mam and Sister.
This thread has reinforced my belief in mankind and my personal beliefs knows that Alistair is reading this thread and probably having a good laugh.
RIP Alistair, your existence in this dimension is immortalized in this Forum.
Pete.

Well some very sad news for me to hear. Very sad.

Alastair was there at my first UK ToTR in Glasgow Scotland when we met at a Starbucks before the show. He helped set up the show, proved to be a top class shunter and bedazzled some "real" engineers with his knowledge of voltage capacity discrepancies between locomotives. I will never forget the stunned looks on their faces.

The next time we met was in Canada where Alastair joined us for a ToTR in Toronto and again he brought his enthusiasm and passion for Trainz with him to share.

The last time we met in person was when "Bean" came down to visit us in Oz and he spent an afternoon catching up with the Brew Crew and finally downing some brews at a local pub with a group that had got together in his honor.

I will always remember my mate Bean, he lives on in my and obviously many people's memories as a great part of the Trainz community.

Veni, Vidi, Trainzi! (He came, he saw, he played Trainz)

Dear Aron, (Boweavel)

Many thanks for your kind letter. Until I posted the message, I had no idea that Alastair had so many good-hearted, kind friends all over the world.

Because there is so much to do, we are not able to answer all the condolence messages immediately. However, I feel I must reply to you. Alastair always used two computers at once. While we were out of the house, on one computer, he was playing a simulation game (building a hospital so far as I can tell) and on the other compouter he was on the Trainz Forum. He then had a tragic, silly accident and passed away quite painlessly.

Please can I ask a favour? Could you do something through the Forum or whatever to assure people that this is not a hoax. I am not really into games and chat rooms, so I'm not sure of the protocols but will do my best to advise of the date of the funeral when I know. There will be a memorial service and I will make sure that those present are made aware of the messages of support we have received on Alastair's behalf from across the world.

Very sincerely,
Georges and Molly Dussart
