Long time train lover
Have any of you seen the new show "Really big things" on the Discovery channel?
The episode on Wednesday featured the new General electric "evolution" locomotive.
The 15 min segment had video of the construction phase in the GE plant in the US as well as track testing including taking the locomotive up to 60mph.
The Evolution locomotive has a new 12 cylinder low emission diesel electric 4400hp and produces 40% fewer emissions and quieter than its other 16 cylinder counterparts.

Lets hope this engine is environment friendly because the last thing we need is alot of people complaining because of pollution and trucks are already doing a good job of it which is bad enough!

You have to remember that if you were to remove just one train from its route it would put around 200 trucks on the road to replace the amount of cargo that one locomotive can haul. (Just one of the GE locomotives can haul 150 fully loaded coal hoppers) Trains are still much less of a pollutant than a truck when you keep that in mind.
