Putting the brakes on when placing a new consist on a session

Trying to edit a session. On the Quick Drive menu, I have used the Trains function to locate a new consist (US coal) on the route. But there is a grade at the siding where I placed the new consist and it starts rolling away. How can I put the brakes on for this new consist of loaded coal cars?

The 'A' key is only for DCC Mode, 'A' is lapbrake in Cabmode, only way to get rollingstock to stop rolling is to set them all up with a handbrake script that disables physics when no loco is coupled.

Cheers.

Is there a FAQ that could give me some info on how to write a "handbrake script" and assign it to the new train? Do I add scripts in Driver or Surveyor?

Hold off on writing the script...Unless you want to of course.

Casper is correct. Here's a portion of the keyboard.txt file found in your userdata/settings folder.

train_dcc_down x, comma
train_dcc_up w, fullstop
train_dcc_stop s, slash
train_dcc_handbrake a, apostrophe

train_cabin_brake_release q, KP9, KPPgUp
train_cabin_brake_lap z, KP6, KPRight
train_cabin_brake_application a, KP3, KPPgDn
train_cabin_brake_emergency pause
train_cabin_brake_1 null
train_cabin_brake_2 null
train_cabin_brake_3 null
train_cabin_brake_4 null
train_cabin_brake_up null
train_cabin_brake_down null
train_cabin_indbrake_toggle e, KP4, KPLeft
train_cabin_indbrake_bail d, KP0, KPIns

Press the A key. Z is for lap brake.

I think I've found where I can edit a script for a consist/train in surveyor. So what would the script look like to set the brake on it until it is coupled up to a locomotive?

Umm. Why not use a retarder trigger and set it to stop? It would do the same thing as you're trying to script on your own.. <kuid:160293:100123>

Hey, I have an idea! Press "Shift+A!" I've done that on rolling stock several times in cab or dcc mode and it always works.

Did this work in TS12, pre SP1? I just found this thread and it doesn't seem to work post SP1. I never tried it before I "updated" to TS12 SP1....

Some of the newer rolling stock from JR have a release/apply handbrake in their properties window pop-up when in drive mode and will slow a car or sting of cars.
