According to a British Steam Rai mag I was browsing, South Africa has 4 3' 6" gauge steam locos, including at least one Garrat for sale, all restorable.

I believe if they are not sold soon they willg go for scrap,:'( may try to pick the mag up tomorrow and get further info. Hoping some NG railfan group may read this post

And it's right across the inlet from you. Think how nice a Garratt would look in your front yard.

Hopefully a rail museum or two will make a move on these. Historical steam is a lot more desirable than it has been, so the odds are good to save a few of these.
