Patching TS12 v. 49922 to v. 57720

OK, new ssd in place, gonna do it. What should I keep from my "old" installation to bring over, besides the "local" folder?

OK - Here's how I can reproduce it consistently.

Hi Geoff. I'm trying to reproduce this from your description at the moment, and I'm having difficulty.

Save a copy or clone of the Skipton Carlisle route in either TS2009 or TS2010.

OK, for "Either TS2009 or TS2010", I used TS2010 build 49933.

I've installed the SnC pack in the old .ja format, added the key to the launcher, waited for the database repair, and started trainz.

I have opened the main SnC route, looked up and down a bit, then saved it with a new name.

I then went into CM, and saved that route to a CDP file.

Import that route into TS12.

I'm using TS12 SP1 build 57720. It has a copy of the SnC already installed (using the new in-game DLC system).

I fired up CM, and installed the clone copy of the route I took from TS2010. One error, a missing screenshot. Easy to fix, no drama.

Fly the track of the route and everything appears to be in order.

Now make some changes to the route - I replaced track and trees.

I replaced 'Treez Pagoda 01' with 'Tree Broadleaf 01'. There's a lot of this tree throughout the route, so I thought that would be a big enough change.

Save the route and exit TS12.

OK. I used 'save' to overwrite the clone copy rather than 'save as'. Would this matter? Which are you doing?

Start TS12 again, and load the route into Surveyor.
Fly the track again and you will see the bridges at the wrong height, bridges skewed and sunken telephone poles.

I've been over about a third of the route (from circa Kirkby Stephen to circa Horton in Ribblesdale), and it all looks as it did before. No problems evident.

So I replaced all the track too - All the "Track 60ft FB BR1 Std" types got swapped to "UK Bullhead- Wooden 09" or "UK Bullhead- Wooden 09 Rusty".

I saved, closed Trainz, re-launched Trainz, and checked again. I also jumped to Skipton and traced through Hellifield and up to Settle. Nothing wrong spotted there either.

I have done this on two different computers with fresh installs of TS12 and the hotfixes.
I have done this with TS12 SP1.
The problem is always the same.
Hope this helps you.

Can you provide me with any further details on what I need to do to reproduce this please?

Hi,

I can reproduce this disconnect bug very easily.

- Start a new map
- Connect 3 pieces of ANDI06 fixed track (I used the ones with length 14.85m)
- Select the middle one and change layer to session (leave the other ones untouched)
- Save as
- Quit route
- Reload route
- Voila, the middle one is disconnected

Gtx,
Marco

now along with the bell issue. The only bell that should be going off in a consist with locomotives is the lead locomotive. I don't believe that this issue has gone unanswered for years and years.

I second this. It makes bells unusable on consists with more than one locomotive because it sounds ridiculous to have multiple bells that sound different going off at the same time.

"Trainz 2156 - We finally have broken everything nice. But we fixed the bell."

I'm thinking that as well. Once my database repair has finished, I'm likely to be creating a thread on how I'm getting on with SP1.

Thanks for the report. I've been able to reproduce this in house now.

Interestingly, it seems to be specific to this type of track -- a built in "FT straight ... " type fixedtrack object did not exhibit this behaviour.

Let's make it livelier; how about someone start a thread on 'How I fixed that'! I think the DLC issue should be a separate thread as not everone has that content.
Like right now I'm trying to find my tranzoptions folder and get back 'show kuid'.

Perhaps the following image may help (originally submitted by N3V, who hold the copyright for the image):

P.S. The original location for this is available from a link at http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/TS12_SP1.

It also happens with assets which are scenery objects with attached tracks, such as your station platforms or industries. It is often not obvious that the track has become detached until either the consist derails at the bad joint or AI reports that it cannot plot a route to a destination beyond. Often the break is not obvious since the spline point looks OK in Surveyor unless viewed horizontally from just below ground level (viewed from down the slope of an embankment).

SP1 has for sure given me fits with ANDI06's turnouts and spacers! An example: a #10 turnout with a 3.5 spacer and then another #10 turnout (kinda like you use for a yard ladder). The spacer (after saving) will detach itself from the 2 turnouts every time. This never happened until SP1 was installed. For a route that I used them for a yard ladder on both ends, I would have to replace all of them and put a track spline where the spacer was at (which means revamping the entire yard as the spline would need to be longer than the spacer to work).

It has left me wondering if this SP1 mega patch is a non-official beta lol.

Trouble is when fixing problematic assets, I have to free up a lot of inconsistencies on the drive by performing various tasks and multiple EDR's. No fun I tell ya!

Hello James
Well I certainly thank you for your effort, it is appreciated. I have done pretty much as you have done, several times since the initial release of TS12. Because of the problems I have never used TS12, it has been shelved awaiting this service pack. I cannot pinpoint the posts due to lack of time, but I have raised the issue on the forums before and found that others had similar problems. There are quite a number of posts raising spline issues. I have used the S&C route since TC3, through TS2009, and TS2010 and have never had any problem. I also have it running in TS2004, so that should show that I am not exactly a novice. It may well run in TS12 out of the box without modification, I haven't tried that. I run both TRS2004 and TS2009 under WINE on a Linux box, here again I have experienced no issues. Not that I have attempted to run TS12 on Linux, I am just trying to show that I am not exactly green at recognizing and fixing problems.

Please don't go to any more trouble on my behalf, I have waited for almost two years with hope that this issue would be fixed, and frankly will not spend any more time on it. I would have sent you screenshots of the issue, but I'm afraid I've now wiped all traces of TS12 from my boxes. I won't be re-installing it, I don't like it or the way Trainz is going, but I will not labour that point, as, perhaps venting almost two years of anger and frustration, I have already made my point.

Thanks anyway
Geoff

That's great, James. At least now this fix will be something that can make it into SP2 if there's one. :)

Having patched to 57720 I am busy downloading my DLC but I am only getting 16.74 KB/sec, is this because everybody is doing the same thing.
