Old Avatar List

Hi Dave:

The locomotives in the avatar list that I can name are:
  • Auran Staff Member: Hotrod F7.
  • Post Count 15,000 (Trainz Deity): SNCF TGV power car.
  • Post Count 7,500 (Chief Executive Officer): British Rail (BR) Class 43 HST power car. Looks like it may be in GNER livery.
  • Post Count 2,500 (Chief Commissioner): Looks like a Union Pacific DDA40X.
Also, the avatar for post count 1 (Passenger) looks like a BR passenger car, perhaps a MKI or MKII.

Hope this helps. :)

Regards,

Retro.

Thanks Retro and Bill ,

Maybe we can restore the list , and as I stated previously , ' for what ever it's
worth ' !

Motorman looks like a Budd RDC-1.

Some other thoughts:

Moderator looks like another TEE train (Dutch?).
Chief Operations Manager looks like a French SNCF diesel.
Station Assistant could be a Brtitsh Mk3 coach in Virgin colours.

Perhaps others, more knowledgable, can work from these ideas.

I hope know one minds me asking, but as im new (ish, from September) to the forums, what is all this about the old forums and the "Great Crash"???
Cheers

A few years ago, this forum had a little different format. Most of the panels we have now were present, but a couple of them have gone. One panel was a favorite (of me, anyway) called "Off Topic". There were all kinds of crazy posts in it. Most of them were humorous, but some were not.

The moderators were a lot more tolerant of off-topic posts in other panels also so an unofficial contest began between members to raise their 'post count'. This was done by what was termed "waffling" which was simply adding unnecessary posts to an already bloated thread just to make your post count go up.

Then, came the great "crash". The whole forum went down for quite a while. As I remember it, we were without forum for around a week. When it came back, post counts were wiped out and we were then allowed to pick our own avatars. Prior to that, we got new avatars according to how many posts we made (as the illustration we have been rebuilding in this thread indicates).

The old forum is lamented by old-timers. Some think it was more fun, some don't.

Once upon a time, many years ago there was a forum crash and many great posts and threads were lost. You'll notice many members are said to have started here Nov. 9, 2006, but the forums existed long before that, back to 2000-2001.

I've been having a closer look at the avatar list, I'm fairly sure that 5000 was a French SNCF DMU/EMU and 2000 was another French SNCF electric loco I think. There used to be a South African electric loco and a Swedish electric loco which may be the lower numbers 80, etc.

I was going to install an old copy of UTC to see if that could shed any light on the matter, the old locomotives used to appear on that version of Trainz, maybe we can narrow it down a bit further chaps.

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

I believe "Station Assistant" is a MkIII coach (Virgin Rail?)
"Station Master" is a Swedish Loco, not sure of what type however... - I did some research, I believe it's an SJ RC5 Locomotive.
"Motorman" is a Budd RDC.
"Porter" is either a SAR (South African) coach or a PRR (Pensy) Coach.
"Chief Operations Manager" might be an SNCF BB67000.

I think the blue, white and black SNCF one is either a BB67000 or a BB 67382 which is an update of former I think, because they both look very similar.

@PerRock:

Peter, I've been to your site (and forum). Very impressive. I do have one question though. Is it possible to turn off the snowflakes? I have a LOT of "floaters" in my eyes already and those snowflakes really interfere with viewing the site. Wordpress does this also, but they have a button that turns off the snow during the winter months.

HiBaller and contributors ,

Just a few more bits of info and the old list will be complete !

I am not certain it will be 100% accurate , but for the old timers it should be
close enough ?

Thanks again to Bill and the contributors , --- ,dave

Here are some pictures for the candidates of the blue SNCF loco. See if they match,

I cant find a picture of the below:( but it is almost identical to the above.
