Who is doing this?

It's a steam cab interior, 400 downloads and I haven't uploaded the steamers that will be dependent on it yet, so 400 people (or bots?) have selected and downloaded it specifically, it wasn't automatically downloaded with the download helper since there are no assets dependent on it yet. I can see a couple dozen, or maybe even 50, guys who hack their own files wanting it for a replacement in their steam locos, but 400? Could there really be that many looking to swap a cabview who know how? The kicker is the next asset down - the interior is dependent on that cab shell, it won't work without it. 400+ downloads of the interior, minus 189 downloads of the shell it needs to work, equals 200+ downloads of the interior missing the shell that makes it work? Are there that many weird suburban teenagers with a first class ticket and no life who download every new thing that shows up without any idea what they want it for?

I've never really trusted the download counter, that isn't the 1st strange thing I've seen over the years with the counter.

Given the way some people go on about downloading assets, I believe there are numerous users who download every single new asset regardless of what it is. Why is beyond me.

I'll happily admit to being wrong if this is not the case.

Those are not all genuine downloads. Some are simply attempted downloads which the DLS counts as good downloads. For instance if someone tries to download it and there connection is broken or whatever the DLS still counts it as a DL. I have had uploads in the past which I know were no good due to the DLS corrupting or losing part of the upload which still showed download counts anyway. And then again some items get downloaded without there dependencies if the dependencies are not included in the kuid table, which will throw the count off even more. So bottom line you can't trust the DL counter.

And there you have probably have the answer to what the problem is with the DLS, a lot of people probably with FCT's and who complain when it's not working properly for a few days are downloading everything that appears....................
Probably as it's easy to select all the days new assets in CM and click download.
