Speaking of, where did you get your operating system? Because I guarantee updates have been made available for that because the manufacturer didn't include the "latest and greatest."
 
Just for the record, im not mad at the trainz community. Im mad at AURAN or N3V or whatever. This goes for all the other members that have been fed up with this crap. - Ive submitted 10 tickets to your "HELPDESK" in the past 4 days...NO RESPONSE. - Its sad that people would scam you like this. - I purchased a 80% completed game for $41. and when i ask for help. they tell me to pay another $30 for a FCT and we will go from there. - So AURAN thinks theyre smart and can take my $41 and then do nothing about their amature programming and one man tech support

I just love these "I want it" and "I want it know" posts. (reminds me of the song). - Haven't you heard the saying? "GET IN LINE" !!! - I assume the 10 helpdesk tickets in 4 days is about one single problem you are having. (gos, if you'd bothered to posted your problem/s in the forum, one of us might have been able to help you)...
If it's 10 different problems, then all I can say is "you've got problems all right" !!! so do a lot of research and reading in this forum and the manual first before you start b_tching...

As for the helpdesk, well if you know anything about the modern gaming software industry, you'll know that a lot of gaming software developers don't offer any sort of helpdesk facility... None, squat, zilch, zero!!! (so be grateful for what N3V offer's). N3V's helpdesk might not be perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing...

I'll send a personal e-mail off to the helpdesk to ask them to not worry about looking at any of the backlog first, because obviously all those people that submitted a ticket before you aren't important to you and for the helpdesk to put your 10 tickets on top of the pile. "How does that sound to you"? OK, I hope...

Grow up, learn to be patient, and stop acting like a spoil-it little 2 year old. They'll get around to your 10 tickets when yours get to the top of the pile...
If you don't like that, then as the saying goes, "the cheques in the mail" :hehe:

Putting in multiple tickets will not solve your problem any faster. In fact all it will do is clog up their queue so it may even take longer to respond because Zec and Aron will be wasting their time looking at your repeated tickets.

The other thing to remember too is if your ticket has been misfiled, due to you choosing the incorrect category, this may cause the process to take a bit longer because the two guys have to sort through the tickets in order to respond to them. Your problem too could be complicated, or different, which will also cause a delay in your response back. They have to get with the developers and quality assurance people to determine if this is a known issue, or one they have to look into.

So having said that, have patience. I have been in contact with the Helpdesk on many occasions, and have always had good results. A wait of a few days is possible, considering they are 14 hours ahead of us, and are well into their evening and early hours when we're just getting up and going about our day.

At this time, I have filed to newly discovered bugs, which the developers have been called in "to look at". The time between the actual response back from a human, not counting the autogen email, and the final answer was anywhere between 3 days and two weeks.

When I first got into Trainz many years ago, I too felt a bit like the O/P.
However, in the years that have gone by, I have changed my outlook, and now realise what a fantastic piece of software Trainz actually is. I think too many people look at Trainz as a game, and this may be in part Auran's fault in some of it's advertising. Trainz is not a game - it is a true to life simulation. It has been designed from the start to get serious model railroaders involved in content creation, and to expand the genre. Lesser products has fallen by the wayside, while Trainz has continued to develop. Yes, Auran have made some mistakes, but their end goal has always been to improve the experience of the true railway affecionado.
I have just returned to Trainz after a spell of serious Flight Simming, and Trainz excels in simulations. The development of new support programs such as CM, which is far far more than a download manager if you care to look into it, portals, active goods etc., has kept Trainz alive. I am tempted to update to TRS2012, but with excellent freeware routes such as TrainzProRoutes "Clinchorn Elkhorn Extersion", and the "Darjeeling Himalayan Railway" I am having too much enjoyment.
As for FCT's, I have only used the freebies to date. If you are patient, there is no problem with firing up the D/L Cart and letting it run during the quiet hours or overnight. Ok, there are bugs - but show me a piece of complicated software that will run on virtually ANY current computer setup, without showing bugs somewhere. And no, I don't work for Auran, or anyone. I am just a computer sim hobbiest who appreciates the quality of the product I bought.

ALSO I CARE ABOUT WAITING IN LINE. GOT IT. BUT I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO PLAY MY GAME FOR MORE THAN 10 MIN. SINCE I GOT IT 2 WEEKS AGO.

here are some of the problems:

1. when in start the game, everytime, it automatically does an EDR (takes 1-2 hours)
2. I CANNOT DOWNLOAD OR UPDATE ANYTHING FROM THE CONTENT MANAGER
3. someone told me to post the missing dependencies for ehat im downloading. WELL THE FREAKIN OPTION TO CLICK SO I CAN VIEW THE DEPENDENCIES IS FADED OUT
4. I CANNOT PLAY ANY OF THE BUILT IN ROUTES OR SESSIONS OR SCENARIOS. I CAN ONLY DO SURVEYOR, THEN QUICK DRIVE FROM THE SURVEYOR.
5. WHEN I ENTER QUICK DRIVE, I HAVE ONLY ABOUT 10-15 MIN, THEN TRAINZ CLOSES. RIGHT BEFORE TRAINZ CLOSES, TADDAEMON POPS UP AND SAYS "STREAM ERROR/TRAINUTIL.GZ TRAINZ2010 HAS ENCOUNTERED A SEVERE PROBLEM AND MUST CLOSE"
6. NOW, EVERYTIME IT CLOSES, IT DOES ANOTHER GOD DAMN EDR AND I CANT CANCEL IT, AS THE CANCEL BUTTON IS FADED OUT.
7. I HAVE RUN AS ADMIN. THIS DOESNT DO ANYTHING.

That's not Trainz, that's Windows 7 or Vista UAC.

What I would suggest is uninstall it completely. Then empty the recycle bin and follow this;

AFTER that, once your hard disk is cleaned up and defragged, check you have at least 30 gigs free space on the drive. Install TS2010. (If running Win7 or Vista make sure you install as admin and do not install in the X86 program files folder!) Test. Make sure it all works before you do anything else. Now open Windows explorer, browse to wherever you have it installed. Copy the TS2010 folder. Make a new folder named "Backup", paste the TS2010 folder into that.

Now you're all set, download the build 44088 patch for whichever version you have (do NOT download the multiplayer beta patch, if you're having problems it's no time to be playing with betas) and manually install that - I never heard of anyone getting the automatic patch to work, so manual is the only way to go.

Again, can't be repeated often enough, once it starts LEAVE IT ALONE, it will appear to be frozen halfway for an hour or so, but it's still working, it's only the progress bar that stops.

If it does screw up for whatever reason (lightning hits your house and knocks out the power while the patch is running), you can just delete the folder and copy the TS2010 folder from backup to replace it. And if the computer is prepared properly for the patch, the patch shouldn't fail.

I know it sounds like a lot of work, but a computer ain't Nintendo, it requires maintenance to keep it running smoothly or you will get these problems.

There is a bit of a backlog on the helpdesk due to a number of reasons, although it's not a large one like we've had previously. At this stage, unless the issue is with an actual order, you may have to allow us a week or so to get back to you. We work through tickets in order of when they were received, so there are people's tickets ahead of your tickets that we will need to look at first.

As it is, we ask that you allow a minimum of 5 days for us to reply, which is stated in the 'confirmation' email confirming your helpdesk ticket was entered into our system.

It should also be noted that the helpdesk generally only replies to tickets during Australian business hours, and as such we don't generally reply to tickets during the weekend.

We will reply to your ticket in due time.

Hi. From my experience anything with Daemon in its name needs to be OFF your hard drive ASAP. Do you have any of that amatuer hacker Daemon stuff on your PC? It's quite popular these days and is a wonky method of accessing stuff which has basically nought to do with TRS.
You can rip hack and tear anything to bits without using stuff like that.... :o or so the rumour has it :confused:....

Well it's information like this that really wreaks havoc. The TAD Daemon is needed and if you delete it Trainz won't work.

What the above is, is the Trainz asset database Daemon Or TAD for short. Again DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT follow the instructions above and delete or remove the TAD Daemon.

Guys I have been with TRAINZ since TRS 2006 and have submitted a few help desk tickets. Each was answered and yes it took some time for a few. Mean while I took the time to continue to search for an answer to the problem I was having. On that long story, all was worked out.

Now recently I came across the phone number for N3v Game and have spoke with Aron directly. I'll tell you that he is very nice and more than willing to help. But geez guys, before you start running N3V down the pipe because they won't stop every thing just for you, why don't get off your duff and try doing something for yourself. Not once have has any of you stated what steps you took on your to try to fix your problems. So from what we here know, you did nothing but throw your hand up in the air and pretty much give up. So tell you what, box up the program and chunk it out the back door. I along with alot of others here are past being fed up with the whining and complaining. Learn the program before you gripe about it. And in closing, don't even think about coming after me.

As stated above, the Helpdesk cannot guarantee a fast response, and the 5 days quoted is based on a Monday-Friday.

Let's see if I can answer any of your questions/problems.
In order;

1.Usually, if it's doing an automatic EDR on startup, it means that you are not allowing enough time for TADDaemon to complete it's job and close properly.
2.What errors are you getting when you attempt this?
3.The View Dependencies option on the right click menu will only be available if there are actually dependencies for that asset.
4.If the built-in routes/sessions are not working properly, consider reinstalling Trainz, as one of the core Trainz files is corrupt.
5.See answer 4 - in addition, do a hard disk error check. (See my tutorial website if you are not sure how to do this)
6.This is to be expected - a crash usually wipes out the assets.tdx and/or the assets.bku files.
7.In 'running as admin' what method are you using to do this? Simply having an administrator account is not enough.
8.Is that a problem or question? It appears more of a statement to me.
9.This may be a symptom of the adminstrative issues.
10.It sounds like the trees you are using are not suitable for your configuration.

For those who are awaiting replies to tickets, make sure you check in the open tickets section in Helpdesk if you haven't already. I'm not sure that you will receive an e-mail response (I certainly never have).
