Nothing Works TR 2012

Neither download station nor content manager are working. I have just purchased this programme. Have used 2004 in the past. Bought 2006 and saw no difference for the outlay. Decided enough time has gone by and 2012 must be a megastep forward. Oh dear. Big mistake.

I have a perfectly good and working internet connection (cite this message) but I keep getting unable to reach host.

I would have thought these simple problems would heve been sorted by now but it seems we are beset by inadequate or purposefully crippled servers? I have read of others who despite getting an FCT have not been able to download content updates. These are part of the game rollout like a patch aren't they? (yes I downloaded the latest patch.) And let's not hear the DLS server is 'down again'. That is getting old.

Yep, you can sense my frustration.:n: Nothing has changed. This should work out of the box.

There must be different versions of TS12 out there. Mine connects to the Auran servers without any hitches and downloads just fine. Made a small download with dependencies automatically added just to be sure that it is not a false positive and that the connection really works.

The OP mentioned FCTs. Best thing since sliced bread. No fuss, not waiting, worth every cent.

As for TS12, sure there are some things I wish had be done differently but given the adequate hardware, it works. Now if a specific installation doesn't work or has problems, making a blanket statement that "nothing works" is not very helpful.

Were the any warnings, no matter how minor, during the installation? Does CM load? Launcher? Surveyor? Can any route be loaded? Can a new route with one object be saved and reloaded? If nothing even loads I would have a serious look at the hardware and any concurrently running software? What are the system specs? What are the results of TrainzDiag?

Give it time it will happen, I get the message wrong username and password entered, its not wrong. Internet connections perfect on my computer hence this reply. Another day and there is no problems I do have a first class ticket.
TS12 maybe some things that are better, but do not kid us that all is well.
Sorry but the company 's had ample time to resolve the issues.

And as this link shows, they are working on other connection issues but with limited resources there is only so much they can do at once. Now if all your friends connect before you, you'll just have to wait. :wave:

And if the authentication server also has issues, online action is impaired but you can still work in stand-alone mode. At one time, my main Trainz box was not directly connected to the Internet so CM could never validate my name and password. No problem, I could always FTP any object directly from the DLS. Surveyor and Driver don't need the Internet to work so wasn't an issue either. Patching was done manually. So I would look at the installation (a hiccup?) or the hardware is not up to spec if TS12 doesn't even start.
