Northeast Corridor Newport News, VA to Boston-South Station, MA (1024x 768 pixels)

you know, I have pretty much all the amtrak content made and released for trainz (Omit magicland's payware (before my time)) and I try to build simple routes to run the NEC equipment on, but when it comes down to it, its just no the same as a lage expansive route.... I have to say that that I am looking forward to seeing this finnished, my equipment has had so many upgrades they sound and look like the real thing.

cheers:wave:

Just a small update...

I'm sorry that I have no pics to show for this update. I planned on doing them last night but I caught a fever and I just had to step away from the computer to avoid more headaches. So next update (when I'm better), you'll definitely get some pics!

As of this weekend I have finished the BWI Station (MP 106.3) and surrounding area and I have continued pushing further. In all I cranked out about 3 miles this weekend. There is a major highway junction that takes place elevated over the tracks partly just out of BWI which took forever to make and then there is a four way crossing (I'll need to post pics) of a creek, a road, the NEC, and a highway, all right on top of each other which also took a while to coordinate. The tracks then curve NW for a stretch to cross the Patapsaco River on a 3 track bridge. From there they pass under another highway (I believe Baltimore Harbor Expressway). That is where scenery stops, at my point of progress. To be exact, I stopped at MP 104.18 (according to my employee charts).

I have laid track right up to the curve before the Halethorpe, MD MARC station. In that little stretch the CSX (ex-B&O) Philadelphia Main Line crosses over the NEC. At that point that CSX line is 4 tracks and the NEC is only 3 tracks. This line is also MARC's Camden Line to Baltimore. For whatever reason, Amtrak still refers to that spot as: "Baltimore and Ohio RR Overgrade Bridge."

I decided to extend that line about a mile each way (with scenery coming) and with portals, so it could be expanded at some point by me or someone else and so you can drive the NEC and have a CSX freight train crossing over (just going portal to portal).

Right at this sport CSX also just rebuilt Halethopre Interlocking (HX) where it goes from 4 to 3 tracks and it has all concrete sleepers with new safetran gantries and signals.

It may be a while until I can get back to my dad's place and resume work (like 2 weeks maybe) but maybe pics will come sooner if I can get over there.

Thanks for your continued support everyone,

Davis Strench:)

Thanks guys for all of the support and comments!

And I am not quite sure what you mean by "AV data" if you can elaborate for me I could try helping ya out!

Davis

Ah sorry, meant aviation data. I might be able to simulate planes landing, for instance. I take it aircraft fly in Trainz by invisible track.

That's quite correct RRSignal. As we speak vulcan (kuid 60238) is making a series of flyable aircraft for Trainz. :Y:
So far he has made a Spitfire, P-51 Mustang, DC3 Dakota, Sunderland, Beaufighter, B-24 Liberator and Lancaster. Also on his working board is a Bf109, P-38 Lightning, and several liveries of the Boeing 747, and Airbus A380. I'm not sure which airlines will be represented, but whichever ones, I'm sure they'll be a welcome addition to any route based round an airport.:D

Happy Trainzing,;)

Cool. Actually, I was going to offer to do that, though I've just begun tinkering with the hows of laying track! But go ahead, I think it will add some variety to an already amazing route. Lemme know if you need anything. The NEC runs roughly perpendicular and about 1000 feet from the approach end of BWI's main runway, Runway 10.

What's gonna get even more interesting is once you leave Baltimore. The NEC runs within a couple hundred feet of the approach end of Runway 15 of Martin State Airport. I'm not aware of any airlines flying out of there, but business jets and an A-10 squadron do. You're only a couple hundred feet above ground and getting ready to flare when you cross the tracks. Been there, done that...but, unfortunately, not in an A-10!

Hi Strench.

Might I suggest that you wait for a while until vulcan releases his airport Runway and Taxiway kits that are specially designed to cater for his aircraft. They are invisible track with a runway design on top, and from what I've heard they aren't excessively far away. For more info read his thread:
