Newsletter learn how to model with Trainz

As the OP was talking about the latest newsletter and in spite of a previous thread some time ago about not getting newsletters and my re-selecting the newsletter option yet again, I am still not getting it, can anybody please give me an online link so I can read it.

The article mostly referred to this new tutorial on the TrainzDev WiKi http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/HowTo/Make_your_first_Trainz_Asset

It's not a bad tutorial but still leaves out some steps in my view. I did cringe when it said their (N3V) model was made in 3DS Max. Maybe N3V staff all drive Mercedes cars. :hehe:

Sketchup is becoming a popular entry level 3D design program. The OP suggested helping new creators with it that want to create for Trainz. That would be lazy, huh?
Too bad he has a good idea that upsets you somehow.
Blaaaaaaah

No point in arguing since you are unable to read. I could care less what the OP said since I was not quoting him.

Newsletter over a year and still none, but I see I'm not alone.
I have deleted the NL info readded, tried a different email, nada.

Because it just shows you are lazy and unable to make anything of your own. Would be great if there was a way to filter out sketchup content on the DLS.
Would be great if there was a way to filter out a-holes as well................ :o

That would be nice!

I agree that 3DS Max is expensive, but when you compare it to salaries, up-to-date development PCs, servers, rent, and so on, it's not a big expense for a business. For a typical end-user, it's ridiculous, which is why we've been polling to see where the community is interested in going in the long run.

Hey Chris,

even if Max is too expensive for a hobby 3d creator, it is used by many CCs who either got it "from somewhere" or do really own a copy through their job. I tried Blender and I'm using Max for 6 years now. And well it's impressive what Blender is capable of as an open-source project. But the usability of Max, the great rendering extension VRay and the awesome mapping editor make it the pro tool it is.

What I really fear is, that the poll could give the impression that Max is no longer needed and further exporter maintenance will be stopped. That's the point where many of the current, very good CCs, will quit with model creation.
If you wrote your whole life withe right hand, you can't simply move to the left hand, even if you wanted to…

I'm really curious on the result of the two polls you're running at the Moment!

Cheers

My own view is that Trainz, through it's XML format and TrainzMeshImporter, should accommodate as many 3D development tools as possible. That gives freedom of choice for whatever reasons.

I am hoping that the XML format will evolve to accommodate improved graphics/animation/etc that may be available in T:ANE and later versions of Trainz.
