New Aircraft

Hi Jamie, the Air Force one would function as a Navy or Marines facility, they would basically handle the same items.

Hi Noel, back with us I see.

Ian

Hi Ian.
It looks as if you will busy for a while with that list getting longer all the time.

No Complaints or comments about the Lukla route or Session Downloads yet.

I use GIMX 2 to reskin conten for trainz 2010 but when i try to reskin a flag to the Philippine color it always says faulty. can you help me?

Hi,

I have Dld and tested the new "startup" aircrafts from Ian (Vulcan).

They are very realistic. When you start /stop the engines of a Dash 8 or a Chinook, it's very impressive, and like the real thing!

Thanks Ian, and continue!

PropellerBig

Here's my re-skin of vulcan's Lockheed Constellation TWA.

It's the PropellerBig from Railroad Tycoon 3, but it still needs work. If there's anything that I need to add or fix, let me know.

Perhaps I need a startup model of the Constellation. :)

Thanks Pascal, as you may know the new helicopters are available with the lift off function, I think that makes them more useful without a lift table needed. Remember the rules for engine startup and helicopter lift off are available for use in AI.

I have replaced the Spitfires, Hurricanes and Mustang that needed an update for the scripted wheels to work correctly, and startup version of them are also available.

Any new startup versions will be labelled as such, and they generally will not obsolete the early aircraft, so you have a choice. Nearly finished testing the airports, the Eurofighter with choice of missile loads is finished, hope to upload them next week.

I have been working on a Hawker Harrier, the helicopter lift off function works nicely for this as well, and you can choose the missile load including the animated ones.

This is the GR1 British version:

The AV8B American version is slightly larger and carries more missiles:

In testing the aircraft under AI to make sure the airports work as industry models, I use a loop of track and of course you need signals and speed limits in order for the AI to function. The problem is that the aircraft initially get up to speed then half way round the loop they slow down to a crawl anticipating the landing at the airport. The wheels then come down, very unrealistic.

The fix is to use a number of trackmarks so you "navigate via" these marks. You need to place one just before the airport so the aircraft continue to maintain speed. You also need a series of decreasing speed signs so the aircraft lands correctly, it can be a bit fiddly to get it right.

I also notice that in TS12 because of the high speeds of the aircraft they tend to derail even on smooth curves, you may need to set the derail level to none.

When I upload the missile loading models I will give you more info on that function.

Ian, I only use three speed signs, one at 275 or 235 about 15m above ground and one set at 40k at the end of the runway, with a 100k speed in about 2/3 down the runway

I'm loving the new stuff

Ian,

I made a short test of the spitfire startup.
When the engine is off, there is still an idling noise at the background.

Otherwise, its a nice plane.

Pascal

Jamie, thanks, I was landing the aircraft straight into the airport model (industry active), as an extreme test, the speed has to be just right or you overshoot the triggers for loading. Landing on a runway and then taxiing to the airport is easier on speed control, you have more flexibility.

Hi Pascal, the new engine sound file is kuid2:60238:53028:1

In the file, the first of eight engine sounds is not really silent, but it is very very quiet, you will still hear a faint sound. Of course with the volume turned up it might become obvious.

Edit: All the amended sounds for the various startup aircraft have been uploaded, the DLS approval times seem to be back to normal now, so should be 24 hours or so.

Took a flight out to Saba today:

We had to wait for the 747 to land and clear the runway before we could leave.

An interesting sight from the cock-pit of our Twin Otter.

Smooth flying conditions on as we arrive at Saba.

Powering down the engines.
Thanks for these new aircraft Ian!

Meanwhile in New Zealand, wet weather has set in as the Ansett New Zealand flight prepares to depart.

On a side note. In relation to the updating of my reskins. Due to the vast amount of them (60+) with the addition of my "temperamental" internet connection it will take some time to re-upload them. So I have decided all those who would like reskins updated to TS12 can feel free to drop me a PM. I will see which are most popular and start there.

Cheers,
Maynard

Jamie, the Osprey now does that, perhaps I forgot to upload the new version? :)

The maximum height of lift off is set to 15 metres in the animation. You can vary this in the config string table to 15 metres or less. I have set it to 10 metres by default, any higher and you cannot see the aircraft properly, you are always looking up at it. Again, when animating aircraft this way with lifting or moving surfaces you cannot have shadows. Give it 24 hours for approval.

For the Harrier, it may be difficult to set a realistic "dipping" of the aircraft on moving off, as it would have to be tied to the speed, but I will think on it.

I think Maynard is finding how hard it is to update a lot of models, and not make mistakes, every time the goal posts are moved. :o

Hi Ian,

I have a couple of issues with recent uploads and thought I would post here incase anyone else is having the same problems. I checked over the last couple of pages but that did not help.

With both the Kawasaki BK-147 Helicopter startup and the Bell 412EP Helicopter Startup I have a missing dependency kuid2:60238:51027:1

For the Bell412 Helicopter Sound Startup I have 2 (Red) Errors (in both versions released);
Error: The Tag 'engine-sound-ramp-up-durations' is not permitted within a container of type 'enginesound'.
Error: The Tag 'engine-sound-ramp-down-durations' is not permitted within a container of type 'enginesound'.
These problems are showing up in 2010.

HI,

Nice pics, Maynard. Do you intend to upload your map one day?

Craig, I have the same errors in 2010. This startup engine sound is the only one with those 2 lines causing trouble. I suppose Ian has the solution...

Pascal

The tags used in the file sound asset had been in use for some time, original helicopter sounds were from the generic helicopter asset by jetstreamsky, build 1.5, I had permission to use them.

They define the length of the individual sound files so they merge correctly. They show no errors in TS12.

You can remove them from the engine sound config, it will effect the sound playing slightly, or you can change the kuid reference in the aircraft config to call up the engine sound used for the Chinook, kuid2:60238:53025:2. This is basically the same sounds. I will do some more experimenting before uploading any correction.

The engine spec has been approved by Auran, I thought I had uploaded it earlier, sorry, a bit hard to keep track with so many files in use.

The new Osprey with startup is now available. It uses the Chinook engine sounds so should show no errors, but the sound is a bit choppy without the tags causing the errors in the other file.

Thanks for the feedback Craig, Pascal.

Hi

Some news about a next release:

With the help of Ian, I am preparing a (nearly) complete fleet of the Blue Angels team aircrafts: the Hercules C130T Fat Albert, and the FA 18A Hornets.

Two pics of the show:

I wonder if an air show can be organized in Trainz. I can imagine a looping, but a barrel?? May be our maps specialists can work on that?

I still have some work on the Hornets. I will let you informed about the release.

Pascal

you could do a barrel roll as a trigger, like Ian has done with the tigermoths.

Great work everyone
