Time for an update I think.
I had mentioned working on some new small airports, why? Well I have had a few requests for more airports to load and unload aircraft. This would make a complete operating system along with the main International airport models.
The airports are:
domestic to load only passengers;
commercial to load and unload general freight and use avgas;
military to load and unload general and special goods, tanks, jeeps etc, no passengers;
air force to load and unload general freight and specialised aircraft missiles.
These will alow you to unload the aircraft that carry loads, Osprey, Hercules, light passenger planes etc. Some have heliports, using the new lift capability of the helicopters and my AI rules, it is easy to simulate landing without using a special lift table.
There is a bit of work configuring some to handle both passengers and freight, and for the air force one, I while adding goods products to be handled I thought I should look at making some missle products for the air force. So we have Paveways, Sidewinder, Maverick and Python 5 missiles and fuel tanks being carried by the Hercules.
Thinking further, I wondered if those products could be attached under the wings of fighters and changed in Surveyor? :udrool:
Well yes they can, with appropriate attachment points (hardpoints) they work really well. You can click on the aircraft in Surveyor and choose which missiles you want on any hardpoint. You can also run "clean" if you choose to. If you use the air force airport you can load or unload them.
So, this is the Eurofighter Typhoon:
It has the usual animated actions, including firing missiles. The new products are in addition to the animated paveway and sidewinder missiles, (only the new missiles on additional hardpoints can be changed over). As you may know the Eurofighter can carry a lot of ordinance. Here it is fully configured "loaded for bear" as they say.
You will appreciate that I need to make sure the new startup Herc, Osprey, E2D Hawkeye, Chinook and others will work with the airports so please be patient for release.
