New Aircraft

Both NKP, if it can it goes up like a chopper, but if it's load is to heavy it uses a short runway (short take-off)

G'day everyone.

I have just started building Kingsford Smith International Airport in Sydney. It'd be nice to have some more Airbuses in the Trainz Aircraft Fleet! An Aircraft I partically like are the Airbus A340 series! Anyway I'm getting off track. I managed to get 4 screenshots before my parents went crook and made me turn the PC off! :hehe:

Okay. Here is the International Terminal. It is the only solid part of scenery at the moment. I have built all the taxiways and the two main runways.

Taking off. (It would be good if the gear went up when you pressed the pantograph button. For takeoff you need maximum speed. When you get past 202kph the gear retracts)

Hi Jake,

Nice work so far, I thought of doing Sydney as well but I have enough to do at the moment and Sydney did not really interest me.

You can adjust the take off speeds in the Config File if you want and change it to something higher. The "take off" speed line is what determines when the wheels start to rise or lower.

Rastis, no it would not be good if the landing gear retracts with the pantograph key, AI takes over the pantograph and you cannot control it - it retracts the wheels as soon as you start rolling. The aircraft are really designed for manual operation but many want to use AI, so the aircraft have to cater for that.

The older planes use the pantograph and I will update them sometime to rely on speed to retract.

I have tried to set the take off speed to a realistic value, but you can change the speed the wheels come, up in the config file, explained in the config description, as Craig mentions.

While the triggers take over a lot of the fiddling with flaps etc, getting the speed correct at the end of the runway is what the flying is all about - don't speed up too much or the wheels lift early.

;) Out of my napping side just to say that...

I'm on my most enthusiastic clapping side for Ian's outstanding artistry and creating talents, which is not a secret for the majority of us, but maybe some others had forgotten.

I have 2 reasons for this post.

The screenshot below is of Sydney Airport from "NearMap" and is very recent (August 1st) and as can be seen is very clear, you can even zoom in a bit closer on this site so it is a handy reference for people. I think it is only for Australia though :(

This link is for Sydney Airport and may help Jake and others;

The other thing I am interested in though is, if you look at the screenshot you can see roads for vehicles marked out on the pavement/apron/whatever (:hehe:). Does anyone know if there are any similar markings in Trainz? I know of one for a car park that can be placed over a texture or anything else but I am not sure about road markings. They would be quite handy.

Maybe we have a white line marking that can be used, just thought of that .... good idea Craig, go and have a look :hehe:

Craig

Searching for White Lines was a good idea Craig, you never know what you find when you search :hehe:

I found some lines that may be useful, creator kuids 59037 and 275817, I used the search name of "white line" on the DLS or CM3.3 :hehe:

Jake try this, worked for me

Set a track marker on your outbound parth up in the air, mine is about 100m after the take off point.

Place an invisible speedboard ( I use - TIV priorite variable - invisible <kuid:53425:21004> ) this board can have 3 speeds for each priority.

For A380 the last speedboard I placed is at 250kph, when the aircraft is higher say 300m place another speedboard at 400kph, when it passes this board it will continue to accelerate and the wheels will go up.

set your aircraft to "drive via trackmark ________"
and you should have no problems.

I'll try and post a shot to show you.

impressive sceens Craig and might I say you have outdone yourself this time Ian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cant imagion whats next?
so realistic ...................."its like watching "Top Gun" again"
So where's the animated Tom Cruize model............:hehe: :hehe:
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Y:

Um Gordon, any chance you could get a gate instead of an Englush gangway, working on reskinnig that personal use only
Jamie

Gordon, your Airport looks great. I have not tried one so large yet but my little multipurpose Wagga Airport is coming along quite well. It's actually a good learning curve for Airport Construction and the use of Ian's features on the planes.

Here's some more progress shorts of Wagga, now with roads on the tarmac :)

As you can see, Wagga now handles domestic aircraft including the Gulfstream, Military aircraft, and has a Helicopter rescue service.

Nice to see everyone getting some fun out of the models, nice screenshots too. :D

Dreddie, you mean this one, the F-14 Tomcat?

tomcat450.jpg

Having some problems with the wheels at the minute, they don't seem to fit within the wings easily, and yes I will get back to the carrier this week. A few good things Craig has noticed to be adjusted.

Ooh nice Ian
i've got a question for you
do you like trains or just use trainz to see what the heck you can do with it??
That's the first shot I've seen that isn't ingame, what's going on??
As soon as the f18s come out am setting up an escort for air force one
Jamie

hello Jamie,

The model was in 3dsmax, can't have a carrier without the ubiquitous F-14.

The wheels work now, just have to cut the wheel doors out and animate. Other animations work (missiles, wing sweep, carrier operation) but might be a little while, the computer is spitting the dummy, locked up 5 times today, could be the graphics card. :(

Originally I started Trainz so I could represent some of my HO models into the computer, the icestage, produce mill, Weimer's Mill for example.

I guess most of the models I have made started with requests, and I digressed, I got interested in the topic (ships, aircraft etc) and like to do something different. It is about being creative instead of being entertained by TV.

Ian

More rubbish on TV then !!

All I can add is that I hope they keep on dishing out rubbish on TV so Ian can keep doing such great work on all his creations.

Craig, just remember to spread out your military hangers a bit more , having them in a nice line just makes it easier for "the enemy" to bomb & strafe them in a single pass ! Keep up the pics and work, good to see how versatile the Trainz system is becoming.

Peter, the Commanding Officer of RAAF Base Wagga is not worried about any "enemy" action while I am around. I cause enough damage as it is.

I have been sent back to Training School twice for F111's, I have been reprimanded 4 times, now I am currently confined to Barracks and Qantas has canceled all Domestic flights until I am removed from the Base. I am not sure why Qantas is upset, I have not shot up any of their planes ..... yet :hehe:

At least with all the missiles I have fired on the runway, we no longer have any problems with Rabbits :)

Some shots of a Hercules C130 landing at Wagga to evacuate personal and equipment before my next flight

Qantas finally agreed to land a 737 to evacuate personal, only if I am kept locked up.

You can see all the people waiting to get off the Base.
