New Aircraft

I see the B24 is at the head of the DLS again. I know I am nitpicking, and I apologise, but wasn't the B24 made by 'Consolidated' not 'Boeing'??
I haven't read the thread all the way through (not enough attention span:( ) so I also apologise if this has mentioned before.
The models themselves are superb, very many thanks Vulcan for sharing them with us.

No Jamie, not likely, the list is a long as you know what.

You are quite right Bruce, you see many reference to Boeing B24 as well as Consolidated, but Consolidated built it. The B24 was uploaded again because I had inadvertently used a script command to correct some issues, but it was not available till TS2009, not very helpful for TRS2006 users. :o

Hey Vulcan
Thanks heaps for the airport infastructure
Now, are you making right hand turn-outs for the taxiways??
And does anyone have an example of an airport using Vulcan's new terminal?? I need a couple of ideas for my 'Ode to Vulcan' layout, even though he hasn't left trainz:hehe:

Hi Ian,
Many thanks for the explanation. Hope you don't think I was being a know-all, it was my own knowledge I was querying. Wondered if Boeing had built some under licence or summit! I was working on the principle, 'If you don't ask, you don't find out'.;)

how about the M1 Abrams as locomotives?

correct me if I'm wrong here but I dont think it is possible in trs to have an animated track on a tank as they would have to follow a path and I dont think the trs export plugin handles that

Hi Bruce & Ian,

I've just spent a fruitless hour scanning through my research on McIntyre Field etc, however couldn't locate a document I've read on the manufacture of B24s.
From memory, they were manufactured at three locations in the states:-
Consolidated.
Ford Motor Company.
someplace else.

I have uploaded a new version of the airport international model, to make it fully compliant with TRS2006. Sorry, should be available later today.

I had used an attached rail track by Rob Shaw for the passenger station, I thought he had done it for TRS2006, but not so, it is for a later version - one of the problems trying to support an older version of Trainz.

While the older model will place in TRS2006, the track is not installed and if you try to join track to the attachment points Trainz will crash.

In the meantime, open the config and change the kuid for the rail track from 523:15523 to -3:1004 an older Auran track, in two places in the config. Don't forget to save the config and commit the asset. You may need place the asset in Surveyor again to have the track change show.

Consolidated were the chief designer and builder of the B-24, though the following companies also built the B-24.

CF - Consolidated/Fortworth
, CO - Consolidated/San Diego,
DT - Douglas/Tulsa
, FO - Ford/Willow Run and
NT - North American/Dallas.

cheers

Jamie, I tried to send you an email through Auran but it bounced. Of course you can make a map, just wait for all the models.

I had in mind to release my test layout for the aircraft and models, but I may not have the time to do it justice, I only make small maps to test models and take screenshots.

I would have liked to have the helicopters working and the lift tables used, these are neat for the Osprey to use. I still have a lot of work to do on the aircraft and other airport terminal versions, so perhaps later I might get to it.

While I uploaded all the models together yesterday, Auran seems to process them every two hours, they did all but four models first, then the other four two hours later, so the right hand turnouts would have arrived on the DLS two hours later.

A few comments on the taxiway models:
Spline do not show night meshes, so you need to use reflective textures, which are not as bright as the night lights on the runway models;
Because of the long taxiway lengths you may have to use, I have simplified the night lights to single planes, not the correct upright light standards with too many polys;
While the taxiway texture files are the same for the fixed track and splines, they show different colour shadings in Traomz for the two different asset kinds;
The fixed track turnouts can be clicked anywhere on the mesh to change direction, but they will not show changeable arrows in the minimap for changing track direction.

Thanks for the info Bruce, Ghosty, Noel.

Oh thanks, just downloading now
If you want I'll put all that stuff in
So far I've been thinking about
City Cat
Oil Tankers (Which will be behind the airport as they'll transport fuel for the planes)
An International Airport
A couple of baseboards away, a group who preserves WW2 Aircraft (This is unrealistic though isn't it??)
Sunderland Flying Boat
Helicopter shuttles to and from the airport to a portal

Jamie

The aircraft will work with a portal, I have tested them between portals, an automatic operation if you will.

You do need to place enough signalled track, with speed signs, to make sure they do not interfere with each other. If the track is too short between portals, they will never get up to speed to retract the landing gear. A problem is that the portal cannot be raised from the ground level. If you put it on a mountain I suppose the aircraft would emerge already flying!

Updated airport model has been approved.

Ian, try this works for me.

I set ground level to 600, placed portal then attached track once you've done that reset the ground level to 0 or in my case -10. The portal will stay at the hight of the track and not return back to ground level.

Thanks Gordon, that sounds good.

I haven't used any portals before, but someone asked if the aircraft would use one, so I had to test it out. I thought it could be used to generates AI aircraft to fly around in the background, and that is so.

As the aircraft have a partial load when placed or when created by a portal, this makes them useful to generate incoming traffic to an airport I would think. You would need to spaces them out a bit. I suppose you then need some air traffic controllers.

I have uploaded the A380s, nit approved yet.

It works with your ships as well, new pics up next more of your excellent work.

Hey Gordon, that layout is really confusing, but I downloaded most of the assets and it works now

Ghosty thanks for the build codes/explanation on the B24s.

Gordon thanks for the advice re-elevated portals too.
Wow the Wellington Airport & surrounds are looking great!.
I have a cousin who lived right across the harbour from the airport at KoroKoro; up near the top of the ridge. She used to have a weatherboard two-bedroom bungalow with a small sunroom with bay window. Being on a steep slope, she had this amazing 180 degree view. You could watch the ferries coming to & fro, see aircraft disappear or appear from behind the hillock near the airport, see the city lights & hills.
Totally awesome view, especially at night.

Ian once again thank you so much for all the extra work your doing, on your squadron etc.

You could set up multipul portals, for me i could set up one for Auckland,Christchurch, Wanganui (home town) and International.

If you build the other airports (which I plan to in time) you could program in the flight time,eg... send an aircraft to Wanganui portal it would exit at Wanganui 1/2 hour later.

Wellington Harbor

An old work mate from years ago, owns Masterpet NZ, so I added there head office to my map in the correct location and put his Audi TT in the carpark.
