Back for a few days.

Some of the old Surveyor skills are slowly coming back. It's surprising how many of the control features are hard to recall after a two month absence.

Here's a bit of UK nature with a little hardware thrown in.

Cheers

casper: It sure is good to see you back..I hope everything is well..I have been trying to keep your "Scenery-lets get Real" Thread alive but not doing to well..Your last shot is very realistic..But now the master is back..and I mean every word of that statement..Your Friend

Hi Bob.

Thanks for the welcome back. It won’t be for long; just a brief return for a few days until later in the year. We’re doing some summer travelling. I should be fully immersed back in Trainz around September.

I’ve been doing a trawl of the Forum playing catchup. Unfortunately all of the posts prior to today appear to have been marked as read on my system. I thought the new Forum software had a Forum Actions button to press before you could make that selection – no longer on every top toolbar it seems! It’s a bit hit and miss. Sadly I appear to have hit it.

I’ll just have to go through everything in date order to get up to date.

Good to see a lot of the regulars still around, plus a few new names I’ve not seen before.

I don’t know if I’ll have much time to put much together regarding the Scenery thread, but I’ll play with a few screenshots whilst getting used to Surveyor once more.

Jayholland has done some neat work. His new locos should be good when the engine specs are fitted. I also like his ship and boat series. The Royal Yacht Britannia is an appropriate addition during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year. I’ve already found a place for her (the ship, not the Queen) on one of my Mediterranean efforts.

Cheers
Casper

Every time it´s a pleasure to look at your screenshots, mezzoprezzo !

Here´s mine ... the north sea coast, somewhere in eastern friesland (germany).

Thanks for your kind words Flikenwilli.

Your shot looks, well ... real.

Is that all genuinely Trainz generated?

The water ripples look very different to anything from the normal Trainz selection. Have you used a texture? If so it is working very well at that angle of view. “Real” water would leave a hard edge unless some form of image manipulation has been used

The sky, sand and grasses are pretty simple to achieve, as are the seagulls, but the water to beach transitions in your shot indicate the use of something more than Trainz.

You’re not testing a Beta version are you? Go on, spill the beans and ignore the NDA!:D

Meanwhile, back in my Route, the Royal Yacht has just move further around the headland.

@ Casper: Beautiful as always!

@ Flickenwilli (how did they not ban that?:)) - Probably the most photo-like image I have ever seen produced in Trainz. Amazing!

Andy...

Thanks Andy.

This shot is taken from the bridge deck further up the coast, with a change of weather and sea state.

The wind has blown away the fair weather fog. Storm clouds are gathering in the clearer air.

Time to run for harbour. We don't want to spill the Earl Grey!:D

Casper - good to see you back, if only briefly.

Watch out, though - I'm lurking. You might spill your tea......

...er, that's completely off-topic, but I couldn't resist it.

Two screenshots for this evening

@jayholland

I had a sinking feeling the moment I saw that u-boat!

You’re not quietly building a fully armed version of the Führersonderzug as well are you? You’ve been extremely prolific of late and I’m getting the uneasy feeling that soon, nothing will be safe on land, sea, air or rails!

On a more peaceful note:

Somewhere in mainland Europe and walking the dog through an old railway bridge in the southern UK.

Cheers

Can you post a bigger version of that shot, maybe 1680 x 1050. I'd like to use that as my screen background for a few weeks. It's such a calm scene, just what I need to offset the chaos here at work!

And Mezzo, you're still a guru/genius!
