Good afternoon everyone.

Nice to see this thread is still kicking!

I've enjoyed the great screenshots and all of the advice that's being shared on techniques in many of the recent postings. Nice work everyone.:Y:

Thought it was time to pop another one in here as I'm around for a few days. Here's a trial screenshot with Photobucket - a new file share site for me.

However, there is a problem. I prefer to fill the screen, but I can't seem to get my image size any bigger than this without it looking grainy.

I know Photobucket have a 10GB bandwidth limit on the free version, but I'm not aware of an image size limitation and can't find any answer in their help/FAQs.

Does anyone know if there is a way of preventing my original uploaded image (which was 1344x840) being reduced in size to 1024x640 for sharing?

I've tried the Photobucket size increase slider. Although it makes the image bigger it loses quality at the same time. I just end up with a fuzzier large version of my original shot.

Any assistance from you wise ones will be much appreciated!

Edit: Problem solved - I've now gone large!

Cheers

Hi Bob.

Thanks for your kind words.

Happy to report that all is well. My wife and I tend to use the better weather during the summer to do a bit of travelling, in particular visiting friends and family in mainland Europe. When we’re out there I have limited internet access and no Trainz software. I’ve been (almost) convinced that it’s a healthier lifestyle and to be honest, it is a welcome break from the PC most of the time.

Of course, it’s also a thinly disguised plot to do a lot of first hand research and photography for my European routes and get some fresh ideas and inspiration for the endless hours in Surveyor during the winter.

I still can’t figure out why my uploaded images are being reduced in size at Photobucket. I’ve just spent another hour trying to figure it out. Edit: Now sorted and much happier

Here’s another I’ve just snapped.

Cheers

Thanks Cascade.

I do use a few trees. Here are a couple.

Another little trick is to plant a few on the mountain skylines to finish off the textures which don't look too good when they are randomly chopped off at the top ridges of the terrain.

It doesn't need very many to create a more ragged illusion and also make the middle distance skylines lose the clumpy angular effect.

I find that using a matching coloured fir tree then tilting it to lay on its side to match the angle of the terrain works quite well, with the trunk just buried into the ridge. Rotate to expose the most appropriate foliage. Another great way to use billboard trees to good effect.

I've used that trick only on the left side mountain ridge with slightly heavier foliage at the bottom, just to the right of the barn. The more distant mountains don't need it.

Bob that birch is to much pixelated can you get a better one

Bob you make nice shots of your beautiful route(your route deserves better trees and trainz version) but if you can, can you upgrade and use ST trees? It is a totally different world you need to discover.
On my thread i posted a few nature pictures confronted with mankind's pollution illness the scrap yards etc. like this one

have a nice day,

@ cascaderailroad

More beer bottles.

There are two in this picture spoiling the landscape.

I’ve just realised that the route I’m working on seems to reflect my drinking habits in real life. When at home in the UK, it’s real ale. Pulled from a conditioned cask by hand pump, it never sees the inside of a bottle. The first glass it touches is the one from which you drink the stuff. The World’s finest beer!

You simply cannot get it in mainland Europe, where the best on offer seems to be various brands of Eurofizz – bottled only. Hence the apparent trail of empties when I’m working on my Italian route.

@ joosten
Thanks for your kind words Roy

Keep those great pictures coming everyone!
