Nature Screenshots! (BIG and NUMEROUS pictures!)

Nice shot there Roy..Mt. Blanco..Did you get Pale Blue working for you??

Bobcass_20110526_0020.jpg

Golden retriever from arraial

@ccrailroader the dog is a stray dog version of a golden retrieve but still well done.

@Bobcass see that shot is much better less strechy texures.
No the paleblue texture does not do the trick you get but no problem alsp snow does it for me with little grain in it for the touch of snow drifting or changing.

keep up the good work and progress.

Roy:cool:

Bob listen

you ask me for what i think right?
This pict. shows again a lot of over strectched textures. and monotone .
Try to mix and try to get more high res picts if these are old ones not sure.
Also mix with other rock and vegetation to cover repetition and borders of textures.
when you look at my picts i always try to keep the size m2 or sqft of rock to a minimum to avoid what you show.
I try to find an example in my route where good and less good too ok?
Also rotate more your textures and blend slightly with others you will be amazed what effects you can have with multiple textures next and on top of each other just with a very subtle touch put them on top to bland slightly.

Roy;)

Here is an example of WIP

the first pict not to bad as vegation and rock and variety of textures keep the eye busy.
trainz2011052813023089.jpg

the second one when you loo k at the bottom below the road the dirt is empty no brush no tree no boulder yet to fill the emptiness. Rotations of textures is ok as you can see.
The rock formation on the right is so so need some more shrub and or another similar granite rock in between or some dirt maybe:

trainz2011052813033434.jpg

number 3 illustrates well rotation and blending of one rock type and once in a while some dirt.
hope this helps

have nice day,

Thank you Roy for trying to keep me on track(pun intended)..I will redue the rock etc..It is easy for you to see things that I can't but I certainly will keep trying..

PerRock: It does kinda look like Ice Cream..Lets see..Mabe:udrool: a little Butterscotch..Vanila..Choclate suryp..Scutterbotch, I mean Butterscotch Suryp..:udrool: :udrool: :mop:

bob another inside information for u

Parts of the picture look ok but the pict itself you try to much to take a to large area with to few different details and miss the message what you want to tell with your picutre.

Iin other words before going to make large scenery picture first exercise on make nearby (detailed) pictures to get the feeling of photography is an art too and can be learned by using your eyes and look how many others in the forum take a picture and tell their story.
So if you ask me and also if you not ask me o i want to help you to grow and make the picture clear and fresh and light (daytime) to get more sharpness etc etc. Look at other pictures than go to your route and take step by step shots nearby filling the picture as if you stand in the field eye height and have some or little bit horizon ALL the time to give depth.
Start planting brush etc use pofig and jankvis stuff lots of goodies to fill your empty rock partitions and make the dark dark green textures a little lighter and different mix of textures.
enough for today and do you homework my friend you can but go step by step and first the "diorama" like close up shots promise me!

Have a great day planting pofig shrubs and jankvis grass!!!!!!

Roy;) ;)

Roy Thanks again for your response..Could we safely say then, the layout itself should be a series Dioramas??I need to concentrate on one area at a time. would you say..

Bob yes concentrate on little areas on a t a time

Yes do not run before you can walk is a good saying too.

Good luck,

roy

Nice shot Bob, you are doing great in my opinion. ;)

May I make a little suggestion of my own? Using textures for moving bodies of water is some times okay (such as maybe in the earlier days of Trainz), but having the water actually move/flow is one of those things that can really help turn your route from a static model into a living world. Now, there are different systems out there for making animated waterfalls, etc., it seems. Sirgibby's payware animated waterfalls are superb (based on what I see in his excellent free demo waterfall), but they are fixed objects, so therefore you pretty much have to model the surronding terrain around the waterfall object. But nevertheless the results can be great.

A really nice and superb kit that I would suggest would by cyberstorm's animated whitewater/rapids/river/waterfall stuff on the DLS. This is an awesome kit that allows you to create very nice animated whitewater rivers, waterfalls, rapids, and what have you. To make rivers, you lay down river "track" that is a translucent white water surface, and then you place animated whitewater segments (found in the Trackside menu) on that river track, and there you go. There are also seperate waterfalls and rapids in this kit fount in the Objects menu that are tiltable (i. e. you can adjust the angle of the flow) (at least with the rapids; I do not remember if the waterfalls support tilting) to add to the kit's flexibility. So search under the username cyberstorm or his User ID, 78193, on the DLS, and grab any thing related to rapids, waterfalls, rivers, etc. that you see. Do not forget to also grab his "whitewater demo" route (<kuid:78193:991158>), as this is a valuable demonstration of his to demonstrate his whitewater system; turn to it for reference and inspiration for your own routes.

Just as a second (opional) suggestion: Go to this lionk and download the FMA Instant Grass pack: http://www.spaintrainzrutas.com/fmasplin.html. Lots of superb grass splines to make your grassy scenes look great when viewing close-up. The splines have level-of-detail that makes them instantly become invisible when you zoom out past a moderate/somewhat short distance (and then pop back in to view when you zoom back in), so they will probably not clog-up your computer when viewing from a distance, but if you are like me and do not care about that "popping" LOD very much, then the FMA instant grass can really make a grassy hillside look cool. Several different shades and size of grass spline in that pack to match your grass ground textures. ;)

EDIT: Below I have added four screenshots to demonstrate some of this stuff as found on my personal work-in-progress narrow-gauge route. The first three screenshots are of a river created using cyberstorm's system. The red arrows above the river are for each animated whitewater "segment" and are located above the center of each segment. The number of side-by-side arrows for each segment correspond to the speed of that whitewater segment, i. e. one arrow = slow-moving water, two arrows = medium-speed water, three arrows = fast-moving water. The fourth and final screenshot shows a hillside (to the right) covered with FMA instant grass splines. Click a thumbnail to view the image full size (and these are the full 1024 x 768 pixels dimensions, but are all less than 150 KB in size).

Hope this helps Bob, and keep up the great screenshots like this latest one! :)

Regards.

See hiw that works Bob

How different from the shots before that is what i mean very good progress.
Yes retro00064 good advice and you can use animated stuff but be carefull and tend slowly to back off it again only certain spots run the things from Cyber to simulate whitewater etc.
Feel good when see you make that much progress.
