Nature Screenshots! (BIG and NUMEROUS pictures!)

Hi leen.

Great to see you and your work in this thread.

However, I can’t agree with huubbaar who has compared your work with that of the old masters. Quite preposterous!:(

Yours is much better!

:D Thank you Casper for your kind comment. Your screens are great as well. More nature can't be bad, so i 'll post a view older screens.

leen...I dont think its fair to post real pictures in this thread...its trainz not real life! :hehe: Very good all of you!

Nice shots again leen.

Your seaside shot reminds me of the French Atlantic coast, (Cote Sauvage) near Les Sable d'Olonne. Is it based on a real area?

This is definitely my favourite screenies thread. Landscape scenes go very well as screen wallpapers. So many people have walked into my office and said things like "ooh, that looks nice, where did you take that photo?" I have to explain to them about Trainz just being a 3D simulator.

And, speaking as a person who used to create objects, I can say we really love to see our creations finding homes in such artistic scenes. It's a symbiotic relationship.

Deane,

This is exceptionally bad news from one of the masters of the art. The drip feed of your assets, and those of your counterparts, is crucial if the bar is to continue to be raised.

The DLS difficulties look set to stay. In fact it’s even worse now that those without an FCT (I don’t currently have one) can no longer view what is available. Those of us who tend to use Trainz mainly as a winter hobby only have use for access for part of the year. My plans for a 3 month purchase after Christmas are now on hold. I frequently used to search the DLS for a particular item to best fit my needs – window shopping if you like. Now I cannot see what is available at all. It’s probably not the place to ask this, but why have Auran pulled the blinds down over the shop window?

I agree regarding the symbiotic relationship. To me it’s like an endless loop which has now been fractured.

It’s possibly not irreparable though.

What about third party?

We can find good stuff everywhere now. Sadly in small repositories, rather than one big centrally shared pot. But that’s better than not having them at all.

There are sites out there that would have your assets in a flash!

Cheers

Yes, it's not the best place to discuss such weighty matters, so to put it succinctly, until I learn to live with TS2010/CM3 and learn whatever it's new methods of content creation are, I won't be issuing any more assets. I'm feeling a bit like Austin Powers during his "lost mojo" period.

Plus it's nice to have a break.

Leen, that sand dune pic is awesome. Others may exist, but that is the first dune type setting I have seen, and one of the best coastal scenes I have seen. Great shots.

Talking about wonderful screens Casper and Fred.... you guys just fit in there. Awesome, thanks for showing.

@Motorbreath: It was a try-out. I made a whole coastline to see if it could be used. The only thing that came handy was a rail to a passenger ship an a goods harbor. see pics:

Hello Casper,
I had problems getting splines onto the DS and although most of my static objects went up fine under the 'new management',but after many tries and a good deal of help they would not. That was it for me, but I didn't want to stop creating objects so I looked for somewhere else to stable them and found that the TPR site was willing and indeed very helpful in doing so.
Don't stop, just pop your great creations somewhere else so Trainzers everywhewre can still access them.

Blessings,

Angela

Thanks Angelah.

I already use TPR for downloads – and very good it is too!

Regarding uploads, my efforts are yet to be realised – my comments were regarding Deane’s fantastic work and that of other excellent creators.

I gave up on progressing with creations when I hit a brick wall on getting the assets into Trainz. I’m a bit further forward with digging my way through Vista virtual world file pathways, but still get frustrated and go back to Surveyor.

It’s good to know that, if I ever get it fathomed out, there is a site which might accept it. A lot of it is Italian based trackside stuff though.

Presumably it’s possible to upload into TPR in a format which is useable by all versions, including the most recent. It seems daft to restrict the use of the items to just a few.

Cheers
Casper

PS Better throw another shot in to keep on topic.

A couple from my Buckingham Branch route. They certainly can not compare to most of what it already posted in this thread but I like them.

Hi Casper,
The upload sequence to TPR is a bit different to the DS. You need to state whether the asset will work in other versions, each version is listed with a radio button. So I test my assets in 2004 (the main point of focus), 2006, TC3 and 2010. Mostly they are okay in all apart from 10 when they show red in Surveryor listings, but still place on boards okay.
I don't intentionally try to create for 2009/10 but the assets seem to work more or less. The reds is caused by the config having different (and not allowed) lines in it for the later Trainz versions I think, 09/10 just grump about it but keep going.
Splines were my downfall with the DS. I just could not get any accepted no matter what I did. Folk even sent me configs that they had used and got accepted but when I tried them, zilch... I don't need that kind of problem, I get enough in gmax... ha ha.
So I decided that if the DS didn't want me then the feeling was mutual.

Blessings,

Angels
