junctions not working correctly

I have had this happen enough that I must have done something to mess something up!

typical scenario.

I lay a section of track and put in a diverging section.

i signal it.

when I test it the junction is backwards.

The display show a diverging route but the train goes strait, or viceversa.

I took 2 pictures to try and show what I mean.

Shot of train approaching junction.

shot of train going wrong way.

help?!?!

I don't have TS12, but from what I've read on these forums, it could be that the arrows (switch) is in the wrong position, try moving it back (toward the loco) a tad (small amount).

Edit ........... on second look, you do not appear to have signalled that junction, how is
the loco supposed to know which way to go ?

Just having a switch with no signalling will upset the AI

This might be an instance of a common problem where the two tracks curve after the junction and the inner one looks as if it should be the left track as in your example but the "left" track actually goes right very slightly then goes left so the arrow points right but the train goes left. Try adding a spline just after the junction on the left track and move it slightly to the left, better still add a spline to the right track and straigten that piece of track after the junction.

I second what dnevans said. Plus, you should always have a small straigth piece of track before the points, as it makes them more "perfect". Play with it, as we all did at one time or another, and you'll see...

I will, thanks.
it is signalled, just before the picture.
The actual laying of the track was quite innocent enough, just dragged off the main line where I wanted it to go.
I'll delete that portion and place a splint and try again.

Don't delete anything, just add or insert a spline just before the point and "straigth" the new section of track.

I think AI tries to take the shortest route to a point, so it would take an inside curve ... also try putting track direction markers, to block trains.

You also could delete the tracks one at a time, and relay them in the intended direction of travel.
