Today St. Paul and Tacoma Lumber received there newly leased, with an option to buy, caboose. Pretty fancy digs for what these crews are used too, with new fangled headlights and all, but I guess it was the BN that was doing the complaining about safety as the mill train has to make reverse moves on BN tracks.
Here we see the caboose ready to depart on the paper mill shuffle, an arduous two mile journey at a blinding 20 mph.

As a special treat for enthusiasts, 4501 was tasked with hauling a log train from Vernon to West Clyde logging siding. The day started with assembling the train at Vernon, and then saw it run down through the valley to West Clyde. Unfortunately, after arrival, the track spread under a couple of the bulkhead wagons.
