Installation issues TS2010 Won't start

Hello
I am trying to get TS2010 running on Win7 Core i7 machine. Have installed and run as admin, no a/v, firewall off. Will start from launcher, get halfway thru, updating assets, then checking for faulty assets then back to Launcher. If you click Content Manager icon, same thing. When you quit, it does the same thing, quits, but TADDaemon.exe DOS box stays and won't go away for quite a while.
Have done all Support Ticket BKJ-957137 told me, - admin, a/v, firewall, patch - but that seems to be it for them - they don't appear interested.
Anyone out there had this issue.
I also have TS2012 which installs and runs perfectly with the defaults. However as I just want to drive trains and not make routes or go online this is a far far inferior product( for me anyway).
I recently bought both games direct from Planet auran
Thanks

Hi alansanders02532,

Firstly, may I welcome you to the forums, and hope you enjoy Trainz like the rest of us.

The first problem you have is that you have not registered your game. This is imperative.

Click Planet Auran above, then click Serial Number on the left hand side of the resulting page, then fill in the form.

Thanks Shane for your help
I did both things you suggested but nothing changes.
It is like all 3 buttons - Start, Content and Quit mean "Check database, update database, check for faulty assets and then do nothing (except Quit actually does)"
The support haven't bothered to help for 2 days, so you appear to be my only hope.
I will install TS2010 on my laptop as I have read you can do this. Still, I want to run it on my desktop as that would be much more fun.
I am really disappointed that the routes in 2010 aren't all duplicated in 2012. Sound like some arsehole accounting move.

Alan,

Did you by chance click on anything or try to cancel anything while updating the program?

This can cause weird issues such as database corruption.

If anything I would remove the program from your computer and try a fresh install.

Thanks John
Done that 3 times.
No-one told me that I could just update the 2012 with the 2010 content.
So I did.
Really disa[ppointed with these people.
So what if a 2010 game can't run on a 2012 computer. They don't seem to give a flying f***
Anyhow, I have what I wanted so thanks to you two for showing interest

You're welcome, Alan.

I work in customer support for a living so I understand your frustration. N3V is very short staffed and depending upon the priority you set for the problem, this sets the flag I think for the CRM system they use to sort the problem order. Sadly though like everything else today, support as well as purchasing is all self service. Knowing users and problems though, everything gets the highest priority even if this is not the case. Your problem should be considered a highest priority because the problem is a 100% failure due to an installation issue.

It still bothers me that your TS2010 won't run on your computer but TS12 will. There's got to be some stupid problem underlying this issue. It's one of those things that needs to be looked at, just because. :)
