Looking better all the time...Is horseshoe curve available to Go up at any time...or is it still closed except during 10-7 or 11-6?

Yup I do must say....That is looking really good :udrool: :mop: ....Keep up the good work

Excellant put in the fourth track and run some steam!

Excellant! All you have to do now is put in the fourth track and run some steam up the hill!:Y:  :udrool: :mop:

Nice so far!! Michael hit me up sometime...im also working on the Curve and the general area but I'd love to help you out where I could. Dont know if your interested in making it a 2 person job :D

I have alot of pictures from the Curve specifically from Railfest 2008 this past weekend and I got to do one thing most people will NEVER be able to do, camp out on top of Horseshoe Curve! The Conrail Historical Society got special permission to camp out and "guard" the Curve during Railfest. I didnt get much sleep but it was a hell of an experience!!

Took a bunch of pics of the buildings on the bottom as well as some other pieces so hopefully i can get it right and get someone to make the other buildings.

Sorry, I don't know when there open, plus I live 12 hours (by highway) away so I don't go there often.

I've been debating weather or not I should put in the forth track for PRR and PC.

I might need help in the future. What version of trainz are you using? And any photos anybody has will be a big help for me. I can't drive 12 hours just to take a few pics.

Horseshoe Curve

Cool...Mike's got the Curve allmost finished, and Yutzk is working on another Curve, and I am also making the Curve...how many others out there are doing the Curve project ???? I must admit Mikes screen shots are awesomely realistic !!!! Keep up the great work and screenshots ! I camped out on top of the Curve Cliff in 1977, and various other places on the Curve in 1980. There's no more of that shananagans anymore. :'( :mop:

its great man it reminds me of the days traveling on amtracks broadway limited that train use to be between 18 and 20 cars long I miss those days

Just a question

I am working on a pretty accurate model of Johnstown, PA but I think the problem trying to merge routes is my route 0 elevation trainz equals 1,200 ft approx 300 meters. Are you using actual elevation for the curve?

I am working from 2 Merged DEM's, and I believe it is accurate elevations ?
I also I believe Mike is working with a DEM of Altoona To Cassandra. I'm following his great work...he is the "King Of The Curve" ! Super work Mike !

I have researched alot of high poly tracks, and they are great ! But I am concerned about framerate, if someone should download and go to use my Horseshoe Curve route. It will have Several Large 10 track yards, and low poly tracks would be better there. With @1000 switch's, complex trackwork, and 40 miles of quad mainline, I have come to a conclusion that a lower poly track would be best for the overall route. I have chosen "US Mainline" & "US Mainline Dark" for the overall route, hoping this is a lower poly track ? Any suggestion for track ?

Yeah dude, please tell me you are using a DEM for this?

Steve
Yes I am using the DEM so it is actual elevation but a few adjustments and your johnstown route should merge fine.

Progress report, I'm almost finished kitbashing Altoona Amtrak Station, I might have screens tomorrow.

at several places on my DEM there is a 1000' drop off (cliff). It had hills and valleys, but when I brought the evevaton up, it was Flat. Also extending boards off a DEM, the added board is like 5000' below the DEM. Can't figure out how to elevate boards automaticly ??? How receintly did you start your Horseshoe project. Seems like you have things down pat, kitbashing, skinning...amazing schtufz !

Michael,

Let me know what you need and I can either get it or hunt it down in my picture archives. Im using 2006 with SP1 at the moment. Shoot me a PM and let me know. Theres no sense in me working on my version if we can put together 2 or 3 collective minds and do one REAL good one!

I had demo'd Trainz up on the curve the other weekend too and EVERY person asked me if there was a route that included the Curve.

I have AOL IM, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo Michael. Hit me up or PM Me your SN sometime and we can talk and figure out what we need to make for the route yet.
