I've been checking out the entire DLS, and many various 3rd party sites for content. I need to know who's got the best models for American Steam, preferably heavy equipment I would also appreciate good switching locos for yard-work.
P.S. > Has anyone purchased from "K&L Trainz"
http://www.kltrainz.com/ ? I love the inventory / images, but haven't gone ahead and bought anything yet. Just want to know how well the content works and stuff.
I know many, here are three sites that are popular by most that do high quality steam locomotives.
The first is K&L Trainz (
http://www.kltrainz.com/index.html), they do a lot of awesome american steam locomotives for payware. Here are some examples:
Chesapeake and Ohio J3a 4-8-4
Frisco T-54 4-8-2
Canadian National G-16-a 4-6-0
The second is Jointed Rail (
http://jointedrail.com/) (NOTE: You need a account to access their freeware.), they do two freeware steam locomotives, a Southern Pacific GS-4 and a Reading Camelback. Also two payware which are both Southern Pacific 4-10-2's, the Southern Pacific 4-10-2's are possibly one of the best detailed locomotives in Trainz:
And finally third is Sub Par Productions (
http://steammachine.com/bdaneal/index.htm), this website has a lot of nicely detailed locomotives that work with Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004 right the way up to Trainz Simulator 12, one good example is the ATSF 3160 Class 2-8-2 Mikado:
Also on the DLS there is one user that does some very detailed steam locomotive models, trainboi1, he does both British and American steam locomotives in all different gauges, one great american example is his Great Northern S-2 4-8-4:
There are many other websites out there that have detailed locomotives for Trainz but these are the ones that are most known by trainzers, keep on trainzing!
