Flatbeds & commodities?

I just completed building a west to east siding/mainline combo for use in future routes in TRS06 & am having problems loading trailers from the HP hub.I've tried searching through the list of rolling stock in surveyor for all of the flatbeds in the game,particularly US & Canadian but cannot find a single one that accepts trailers,only containers & general goods.....I even tried running the Marias pass appraoch Shelby intermodel route (but my game froze on me again no doubt thanks to that stinking communications facilitator utility running in the background) to see what flatbeds are used in the consist but no luck.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to which flatbed rolling stock I should use for this particular commodity?

Containers and general goods are probably just the default 'products' that the flatbeds have been configured with. You can re-configure them in the game to carry other things.

From memory; place a flatbed on the tracks, select it and look at its Properties (use the ?-button). Then delete the Containers and Goods (click on the X's) and add your trailer or other products (click on the + icons and select the trailers from a list).

Also the TTX_Tofc_89flatcar <kuid2:113556:10000044:1> accepts trailers of all sizes. Just make SURE you have all the TTX trailers (required assets) DLoaded.

Thanks,I'll have a go at it & see what happens,granted it should be in the list alongside the other items the car is able to carry..

I actually went through the process myself this morning to refresh my memory of it. The X's I referred to are not visible at first, so this is my amended procedure;

After you have opened up the Properties box for the flatbed, click on the icon of an existing product (eg. container), then a drop-down panel will appear under it, and it's there that you should see a big X icon. Click that X to get rid of that product.

Then click the + icon in that now empty slot and add your own preferred product (trailers).

To address your statement about a list of items the flatcar can carry, I can only say there is no way it can be done in the game. All the info about what the default products are is contained in the flatbed's config file. The list of other products it could carry is open-ended and growing as people make more products.

The one thing that might help you is to remember that if a flatbed is set up to carry boxy loads like containers, it can also carry trailers - they are of the same class (IC). Tankers are set up to carry liquid loads (class IL for interactive liquid), so you can be pretty confident that a diesel tanker could also be set up to transport water etc. Gondolas, hoppers and other wagons would typically be set up to carry bulk granular or powdered solids (class IB for interactive bulk) so a grain wagon could probably be re-configured to carry coal or ballast stones etc.

If you were so inclined, you could go through your collection and make your own lists of railcars and what possible products they can handle, but it would be a private list and one that needs updating as new products become available.

The built-in flatcar asset "BNSF 917584" will accept a trailer as a load, but a trailer would not ordinarily be loaded on the real car with this number. Cars which might authentically be loaded with trailers would include the intermodal cars presently hosted on the "West Coast Trains" website (<http://www.sporbust.com/>, and perhaps some of the well cars on the TrainzProRoutes website, though I can't say for certain about those cars.

I checked under properties & managed to find the correct settings by using the plus sign icon so thanks for the help. :)
