Edit Route vs Edit Session Anomaly

Hey Guys & Girls
I am almost sure I am stupid, because I cannot for the life of me figure out what I have done.
Have spent more than a week working hard on a route, and made some major advances today. I save periodically, and it worked fine all the time...

But now, if I go to "Routes" and select my route, and click Edit Route, I get an outdated version of it, all my work for the weekend isn't there :'(

If I go into it's sessions, and say EDIT SESSION, then my latest changes is there, but saving it as a route doesn't help.

How can I fix this, and why does this occur, what did I do? Why is my whole weekends tracklaying work on a session all of a sudden, and not on the route Ive been working on for 2 weeks?

Regards
Marlon

If you have been using Autosave then provided you have done nothing on any map since finding the problem, most of your weekend work should be in the Autosave file.

Regarding losing the weekend work I can only suggest that you may not have saved when you exited Surveyor.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. But I might have stated myself in an unclear manner.

I have tried the autosave file, and I always save when I quit... And...
The weekends work is actually there, if I say "drive" or go into the Routes/Sessions screen, and say "Edit Sessions", I can see it all. Perfectly.

So my weekends work appears to be INSIDE a session, and not in the Route itself.

This is why I am asking, how do i get my "session" work into the route itself.
I might have saved as session at some point perhaps?

You can merge session and route Layers into each other. (Gota love TS2010 for the layers - well I do anyways)

Which will combine all bits and pieces of each into one layer again. Gota keep an eye on whether you are placing bits and piece in a session or route layer, if session it will only appear if you load/edit the session.

Cheers

Trent

Thanks!
I have just been working on the baselayers, so Im not even sure how it works, but I am goign to attempt the merge. I have nothing to lose.
Problem is, if I don't know what caused it, my "trust" kind of spoilt in surveyor, before I will ever start another route again.

Ok, Ive done my best and tried your advice.
I tried merging routes with sessions, tried merging sessions with routes, and tried merging everything together. Problem stands.

If i go to surveyor, and "edit route" half of my stuff is missing...

If i Got to surveyor, and then sessions, and then EDIT a session, it's there.

If I quick drive, all my work is there...
Edit route however, it's gone. So my work is stuck in a session. I need help for real :)

Please explain to me what the differences are... why would my work be stuck in a damn session, if I work on a route... and save as a route.

Hope someone can help, im at wits end.

But I don't get what he's saying, im too stupid I think ?

Open session, click the layer button, merge to Route layer, save, overwrite route and session, that's all there is to it.

Ah hah. Got it
Did not know that merge was posisble INSIDE the surveyor, I tried the merge feature before you actually go into "Edit" mode.

One would think a route is a route, and that a session cant have the same elements. Odd feature

But many thanks.

Edit route

I easiest way to avoid that issue is to click on the route in the main menu to show the current session associated with it. Then click on edit session and route will come up so you can work on it.
Problem is is if you use the edit route trainz will not always load the current session. Then when you save, the game saves a new session(even if you choose overwrite the old) This issue has happened to me as well. Loading the route through the sesson has worked every time.
