DLS connection problem.

My first impression of the DLS is not very good.

I tried starting it off this morning (GMT+8 0900) by trying to download a JVC shrub pack. It said the server was full and told me to try later. I tried again at 1200 and just now at 1700 and the 'server is still full'.

Then I tried FTP. I copied and pasted all the connection parameters Auran gave me, but keep getting 530 incorrect login error.

Does Auran really have such a hard on for FCTs? As of now it is 0450 in the USA and 0950 in London.
I still haven't got the file, by the way.

There's currently a small situation here. I logged into Planet Auran to try the "fix" and this is what I got:

I haven't edited my profile since once-upon-a-time and definitely haven't registered a new serial number or anything of that sort. I've sent them an email demanding an explanation but am not expecting a reply anytime soon.

Meanwhile, I've re-entered my username and password every single place I could, including CMP, but the "server is still full".

Worth noting also that I am unable to browse the DLS through CMP or search for content.
The FTP angle seems interesting. Does anyone have experience on this method of downloading and have actually had success?

Hello again,

I have seen this several times in the forums. Unfortunately you will have to wait for the Help desk to get back to you on it. As it is the weekend, you likely will not hear back until Monday or so.

I am not sure what or why this problem is occuring as those affected by it have only stated that helpdesk was able to "re-enable" their account.

Some time ago, Auran had server issues and that could be a likely cause or not - no one has ever been informed.

Have patience and all will be corrected.

In the mean time, sit back and play and have fun.

Yes Brian. You are right. I shall degrade myself a little and have some fun with MSTS. At the very least, my Train-Sim first class membership does not conk out when I need it. My current mini route is complete save for some nice grass and here Auran is, getting in the way.

Promoting the use of a FCT when there are perpetual 'server problems' is a really bad marketing strategy.

I have a FCT and cannot seem to get a download speed faster then 20KBps.... complete waste of money so far.... It is nice that I can download more then 100mbs in a day.... but it would be better if I COULD download a 100mbs a day. Not happening with these speeds.
 
I own a 256 kB/s upload broadband (not adsl) line with voip. Downloads using a download manager average 500 kB/s. Have also tried downloading a Linux torrent once and averaged 300kB/s down and 200kB/s up.

It's Starhub if you're interested but I doubt it'll help. Also, the speeds you're getting sounds astronomical. Either Auran likes you alot of one of their servers is next door. :hehe:

I suddenly remembered I use the OpenDNS service which I registered for and implemented a long time back. However, downloads using either CMP, TDP or FTP consistently fail. Not slow, fail.

TDP reports that there is FTP login error 530 and so does my FTP client. I've copy/pasted my FTP info a hundred times over so there is definitely no error on my part. OpenDNS, Firewall and antivirus have also been temporarily disabled but still no go.

Jcitron suggests some newly uploaded content cannot be downloaded, but all I want are a couple of JVC shrubs which already I personally downloaded and used two years ago when I tried CMP for the first time (and supposedly last).

Sorry about the rant.

Also, just to allay the location theory for dl speed, I'm way out in the North Atlantic across multiple microwave and cable links.
I still get 250 - 400 kps from Auran.
Your setup or your ISP, one of those must be the culprit.
 
I am hoping that given 12 or so more hours my FCT will kick in... Last night I downloaded new video drivers and my download speed was 580+-KBps... until I loaded the content manager along side it... then my driver download sank to 200+-KBps and the content manager still only downloaded at a max of 20+-KBps....

I am hoping time fixes this for me... as other suggested it would.
 
Just like any torrent client will need proper configuration before being able to work properly, maybe CMP or my computer needs tweaking. I would be happy to know what this "setup" is.

Similarly, like ISPs have a habit of shaping torrent traffic, what could they be doing to items amounting to a few kilobytes related to a train simulation program?

Getting angry probably won't help, but one can't help it under such circumstances. It has been almost five days, and I still cannot download my shrubs. CMP is still reporting that the dumb DLS is full, FTP still results in a 530 login error, and I have yet to hear an explanation from Auran why my account has been partially disabled for no reason.

Is anyone alive out there???

Just tried to download a few things it finds them Ok but hangs when looking for the dependencies.

Hmm. Things still looking down here. FTP 530 login error, CMP DLS full, TDP login error also. It's like the entire world is against me.

And Auran still hasen't replied. It's Saturday now and a week since I first sent my first support ticket. It will be Monday when their lazy asses get back to work and god-knows-when when they stumble across my helpdesk request. (and reply) :sleep:


Aren't there members of the Brew Crew on the forums?
