Derailment Problem or Error

After using trainz for a month or 2 , I have found that derailments happen too easily. I shall explain my latest prediciment. 2 Uk based class 37's (for the benefit of anyone outside the UK) are to couple to a rake of coaches on the Ayr to Stranraer route. A shunter is outside the station after completing the shunt (Location is Stranraer Harbour station). The 2 37's are in the centre roads , points set to effectively couple up to the shunter to then join the respective trains (after dividing the loco's to go to the respective trains). I move the 37's forward (making sure the points are set correctly) and after going a few mph over the limit (station speed around 15mph) the loco's derail. Its annoying that a scenario that happened before in real life causes the trains to derail. I mean , realistically , would a loco slide 40 foot across the rails to around a 45 degree angle after derailing? Trainz is an excellent simulator of train operation but some of the derailments in my honest opinion are really far fetched. In real life this wouldn't happen. In closing , I have the derailment setting to non existent (or nearest).

Anyone with an explanation would be greatfully recieved.

You are driving the loco manually - so, try to couple to the coaches using a driver command and see what happens. Seems to me that it is more likely that there is a track problem (perhaps a broken spline point).

I don't think that modelling derailments realistically should be high on the agenda of a train simulator. :)

It takes all sorts

My daughter and her husband, who bought Trainz for me, think the derailments and the program's representations of them, are the highlight of the whole thing. One man's poison is another man's meat.

I've had similar problems with the Industrial Wasteland scenario, where there was a set of points just north of the docks where lumber trains used to derail.

I found that the solution is to move the points lever immediately adjacent to the points themselves. The points in question were operated by a lever about 20 yards further south of the points, and it remained set against the train after the loco had traversed it. The loco isn't derailed by the points but the log wagons certainly were. After moving said lever 20 yards north the problem went away.

I gave up on things regarding the Stranraer route , mainly to the problems with my PC (grrrrr). Anyway , as I thought the bugs had been ironed out , more problems occured. It was in the preset British Midlands route that the problem occurred. Set the scenario to bring peeps up to date. I added a bit on through the surveyour. I have a train (top an tail Class 55 Deltics) entering a multi industry. They unload etc and I for several reasons have to close the game (namely going for a cup of tea , meal break and the likes) , I come back and when I go for the train (after the usual load up , wait etc as per trainz) , I find the train I go back to has mysteriously derailed and then looking through the map viewer , the train I had has gone back to its original location , albeit shown in red as several uncoupled vehicles , yet the loco is , as said before , many yards/feet and what not from the train!! Basically , where I left the train is NOT where its shown either on the map or where I parked the train! Any help is welcome and I can elaborate on the situation as needed. Many thanks :)

As others have noted, you'll need to address the cause of the derailment by checking (carefully) the track layout and connections in surveyor...

The in-game effects can be minimised:-

a) in Surveyor, edit the rules so that the de-reailment oprion is "off" (i.e. not "realistic" or "viedo")

or
b) install a re-rail portal (just one) somewhere on the track. This may help?

or c) add the "delete derailed train rule" (on DLS under rules) - this will remove the derailed train and all the debris.

Cheers,

Colin

Theres a unfortunate effect in Trainz where if you try to create a set of Points on a CURVE , the point lever will appear to be correctly set but in fact the points are set in the opposite direction! If you drive a locomotive thru them it will not derail but rolling stock will...are the points on a curve?

KUIDS

The KUID for the re-rail portal is: KUID2: 116387:5:1
and the re-rail portal (basic) is KUID2: 116387:6:1

Hope this helps!

Yes, this isa problem with the Middle Vales route, the junction DL e (route to the shed) although the lever went green, the line was only set to the depot line, as if the main line was not even there!

The only way to combat this I found was to rip up the depot line and to relay it, but only a single track entrance

I am indeed , I like to continue a pervious session rather than restarting every time , I've looked at the other posts and will do as suggested. Sorry to have been a pain in the bum over this , many thanks to those who replied.

Are you reloading the saved session and not the session from the driver menu?
