All of the content in the videos has been created for the DHR project. Absolutely none of the content created for the DHR project is available at this time. It has been stated several times, that the content will not be available until the route is released.

You will have to be patient. It is just like waiting for Christmas, everything can be yours when it is the right time, and the right time is when the route is finished.

Cheers

Pretty near to two years now. We started kicking it around and I made a "would anyone be interested in this" post on the old Forum. There was some interest so we went ahead and started. I did the initial routing through my DEM-created terrain. We had about 5 false starts (routing not quite right, or coming out of the mountains in the wrong place) but eventually got the routing right.

Dave (DMDrake) and Narrowgauge came on board during that time. One created all the rolling stock, roads, and track and the other created everything else :D. From there it just started snowballing as we gathered more members. We don't have a lot of members, but the talent sure is there.

Actually, the history involved a rather amazing concidence. At a local model railway exhibition in Adelaide I bought a book of photographs of the DHR. It interested me and I started fiddling with models. When I had something to show, I started a thread hoping that if I showed the rollingstock someone would start on a route.

Almost at the same time, before or after, I don't remember, without either of us being aware of the others threads, Bill started a thread about making the route, prompted, I believe, by a TV show featuring the line. As soon as we were aware of what the other had done we got together and there it started. Bill joined the Trainz NarrowGaugers, we formed a DHR sub group and that was the real beginning.

So far it has been a wonderful ride with still a way to go.

Cheers

Another inquiry, if you don't mind... Do each of you have similar skills and send the map to each other after a week or two of 'building'? I can't see it being modular and 'pieced' together. I guess I answered my own question, hugh?:D

It is modular. While bits do get passed around for checking, one person does take responsibility for the completion of one set of trainboards which when finished will be added to others to complete the route. That is Bill's speciality and responsibility. He originally made the entire route, did all the DEM contouring work, laid and graded the initial track and then divided it up into logical sections for others to work on. We call these sections SCABs 'Scenic Content Assembly Boards'

It would not have been possible any other way and has worked remarkably well.

Some interesting figures that shows the scope of the task. If we had decided to build this route as a solid scale model in HOn2, it would have required a room aproximately 1205 feet long by 631 feet wide with scaffolding and cherry pickers to do the scenery which would rise to 74 feet, and our dinky little locos would take 7 hours to run from the bottom to the top. Start adding up the cost of the track and the plaster to do that.

Even when that gargantuan effort was completed, it could only be enjoyed in the one place, whereas we hope that many people will see and enjoy our work without leaving home This is something only Trainz can provide. I think that sometimes that we forget this aspect when we complain about the program.

Cheers

Remarkable... Amazing... The only words I can think of at this time...:)

I guess I'm really flabbergasted after reading all this, and almost two years in the making. WOW!

Very very interesting.

Looking forward to the finished product, of course.:)

Thanks,

I have a question.
Will I need a super-computer to run this?:)
Meaning how long is it, how much content (generally)used in an area etc.
I see ( and have downloaded) some route's made that are 10 baseboard's long and bring my trainz to its knee's.
