Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad

10 cars by itself!?! That's amazing! I've always known the engines to be maxed out at 8 cars, but somehow the 488 has managed to take on two more cars! I guess the real C&TS could use Prowler's engine!:hehe:

All, joking aside; both the route and the cars are looking very nice, Tim. VERY nice!

Well, ten coaches wasn't really functional...if I had wheelslip on I would have gone nowhere! As it was, I had the reverser full forward, throttle at full, and was only averaging 10 mph up the four percent grade with a loco sucking water like a dehydrated horse!

very verycloudy, with the color settings dark-medium, which is how I achieved the look. Is it possible to set it to rain at specific times?

No, there isn't. I'm using Dave Drake's trees, some of his textures, Ben Dorsey's bridges and Chama facilities, and my own coaches and Todd's engines for the primary things. Actually, much of it is default things, such as most of the textures. So no, no payware ;)

Finally, some more screenshots!

Hey, all! I've finally gotten back into working on the anticipated coaches...:hehe:

Here are a few shots of the homemade Bettendorf bogey, the Concession coach, and the passenger coach!

The custom built bogey for the coaches, based upon photos of one of these puppies in the shop.

The concession car. The big box on the back is a roughly textured tool box.

Shot of the concession car, showing a little bit underneath.

And yet another shot of the concession coach.

The basic body for the passenger coaches, passenger enabled.

A shot of the back of the coach.

I'm currently working on the coaches with bathrooms and getting them set up. Thanks to all who have helped me with this project. I couldn't have done it without you.

As soon as I make textures, there's going to be much more! I am trying to get these done as soon as I can...I've been delaying a LOOONNNG time!

Well, after laying track from Sublette to Toltec Gorge over the past two days, I spent half the day yesterday trying to make the narrow gauge tunnels look right with the environment...doesn't work. I spent about two hours reskinning a few cliff splines and trying to make them work, giving up in frustration. I am now trying to make a couple tunnel portals and a tunnel structure..any pointers? :hehe: In the meantime, I created one of the familiar structures just outside of the west portal of Rock Tunnel, Garfield Monument. Hope everyone enjoys the screenshots!

First screen of the monument. I haven't added it in Trainz yet.

A second shot. I used photographs for referencing the placement and the words, but the actual textures are all homebuilt!

The backside of the monument.

Yes, that's right! Only 40 polys! I think it looks kinda purty, not to toot my own horn! :p

This asset will be included in the dependency pack containing my custom-built assets when I release the route.

Tim

Done from scratch, but I used my photos to get the right shade, the shadows, and the text. By the way, I have layed track to Osier, so I only have the section from Los Pinos to Osier to lay before I'm done with track laying! Except for Antonito and Chama yards...it's all good, though!

NEW SCREENS!

Well, this morning I'm off to Alabama for a week, so I worked hard on Rock Tunnel and Toltec Gorge. I haven't gotten around to building a tunnel or portals yet, but I did make a model of the retaining wall at Rock Tunnel, set 487 up with a small consist, and took some Surveyor shots. Hope ya like 'em!

487 Poking her face out of the tunnel. Yes, I know, I'll get on to the new portals as soon as I can...
