Content Updates question.

Why is it that some content will not download when the download is initiated via the Contents Update box and subsequently the Contents Update page of TS12?

For example, frequent and recent updates from Trainz user olegkhim just refuse to d/load and the items turn red in the d/load list. One has to resort to finding, filtering and then downloading them in CMP which is, quite frankly, a pain in the arse!

For me to save time i enter CM add to the search
Location-local
Out of date-true
Now hit save add a name (out of date local)
All the assets that are out of date will show up,right click on the top one go down to select all ,then RC again click down load.
The out of date local will appear in your filter list at the top.
Clicking on this new filter will show any new out of date assets.
When i go into trainz there no out of date in thecontent update.

Yes, I do something similar in CMP to download the rogue content but surely, one shouldn't have to do that, it should just be a simple matter of clicking on the 'Download all Content' button in TS12 and then it should all happen; shouldn't it?

Just another thing that only half works in Trainz.

If TS12 is anything like TS10, it is usually a sign that you need to run an Extended Database Repair so it can re-sync its database with what's on the DLS.

Deane,

This happens sometimes, but rarely in TS12. I find if you wait a day the local database catches up. I found that updating through Content Manager to be faster than through the game its self, and set up a filter similar to Danny's.

As I've stated a few times, there is a download issue that is only triggered by OlegKhim's content updates, that requires said updates to be downloaded using CM. There is no current workaround for this issue apart from using CM.

No, I think there is more to it than simply waiting. I had the same experience myself a while ago, waiting just resulted in even more un-downloadable updates accumulating. Even a Quick Database Repair did not un-clog the pipe. The only thing that worked was a full Extended Database Repair. There are also some assets that are listed as updates by TS10 (a few items for the North Bay route for example) but which can never be downloaded. It's because they are TS12 assets. TS12 at least would not suffer that kind of problem.

That is correct. OlegKhim's assets are trainz-build 3.6, so TS2010 should not even be looking at them.

If it's any consolation, TS12 users have the same issues with downloading assets from the same author.

Hi.
How many Olegkhim items have you got?
After I complained yesterday about this arse putting this on the Content Updates 60 was put on the updates in one go. "WHY".
As of this morning I have 187 (! in red) thats installed without the 60 you cant down load, Its as bad as the S+R Southern Livery which you cant run.
I think that this person needs to be barred from putting stuff in Content Updates until he gets his act together.

Set up a filter like this in CMP3.6 and it will give you olegkhim's latest updates. You may have to adjust the date, usually to the day before e.g. 24/02/2013 to 23/02/2013, depending on when the content appears in Content Update.

It works for me but, as I have said, you shouldn't have to do this. It appears that this is happening with olegkhim's content at the moment but I have had this issue with other users content in the past.
