Content Manager Plus Please wait applying filer ...''

When i start content manager plus i get a message on the status bar saying 'Please wait applying filter ...' it stays in this state and does not display content in the assest window. i have rebuilt asset library, it then takes a while whn loading due to rebuilding library then it seems to work fine but when i exit content manager i get the original problem again next time. Surely i dont need rerbuild asset library everytime i use cmp. Any advice? Richard

What TRS2006 CMP (and others, like TC 1/2/3) is doing, is rebuilding its database of content installed in the /local folder (example, C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2006\Local). If you're like me, and have quite a bit of custom content, then it can take some time for it to rebuild its database. Ideally, you leave it be, and the 'ratcheting' sound will end soon enough, when it has successfully rebuilt its database.

Hope this helps :)

"Applying Filter" issue

I have the same problem as nekoblade and beavi501. I've left CMP running all night once and it was still "applying filter" the next morning. Like beavi501 I can only get CMP to work by rebuilding the library (deleting the assets.tdx and assets.bku files). I think there's more to this problem than just leaving the program to 'sort itself out'.

Can't offer much here, but I had fatal crashes with CMP, ending in "non responsives" from which there was no recovery. I finally deleted the whole kit and kaboodle, and re-installed Trainz from scratch.

When I was brand new to this I downloaded everything I saw basically, and at the time of the last hurrah, I had 1500 faulty items on my PC. CMP does not much care for these, nor do I for that matter. So when I say I deleted everything, I do mean EVERYTHING. Even though I have daily backups of the entire local folder, I chose not to re-install that (given all the mess I had, and you can't see what's what in the folders), but instead start ALL the way from scratch. I did have all my own stuff saved as cdp and archives, and I did re-install that.

Now I run a "clean show". I only download stuff I need, and I check it immediately for faults or missings. If they are faulty, and I really want them, they need to be fixed right away, if not, they get deleted. Yes, I had to re-download some things, but it was worth the time and effort. I have everything I need, and I have no (zero, nada) faulty or missing assets on my PC. And now CMP behaves. I do get the occational fallout (that's just CMP being CMP), but it comes right back up. I also get much better performance in Trainz now.

I know it's a royal pain to have to start over, I spent days and days cleaning up my act, but as I said, it was worth it. I also learned a few good lessons in the process.

Best of luck.

Oh, another thing I might suggest, while I'm at it, though this may not help your immediate situation, is this:

In order to keep the local folder to a manageable size, and cut down on rebuild time if needed, it's a good idea to "weed it out" from time to time. Most of us most likely only use a small percentage of all the "stuff" we have laying around. Routes you downloaded because you'd have a look, but you never drive it anymore, things you never use anyway. You don't have to throw it out entirely. Save it to an archive, then put the archive on a CD or another drive or wherever, and then delete it off your CMP. Should you ever need it again, you can just import your archive again.

and are you able to change tabs?

If the tabs are visible, the "Current Search" is selected. If the are not visible, I can't change tabs, or do basicaly anything.

I do have a slight improvement now. I have installed SP1 for TRS2006, and now CMP just opens, it loads every button and function, I can change any setting, but it won't stop searching! Some kind of search is running, and keeps running, for hours on end. It also is "quering ticket status", and keeps doing that...

Any ideas?

Current Search will actually point to whatever you last set the Search action panel to. If it happened to be something that was causing a problem, then everytime you start CMP you're going to have that same problem. You should clear the Search action panel to something beneign like Open for Edit. In fact I always select Open for Edit before closing down CMP.

Have you tried hitting the refresh button.
Sometimes CM+ seems to get caught in a loop while updating. I have found that hitting the refresh, restarts the sequence. Using this method the longest I've had to wait (fingers crossed) is about 2 minutes.

I can't seem to find a refresh button... Are we talking about the same program? I am talking about Content Manager Plus, from Trainz Railway Simulator 2006.

Yep! CM+, 2006.
In your CM+ tool bar (across the top) there's a button with two blue, curved arrows.
I think (If memory serves me correctly) its two buttons to the left of your first class ticket status.
That's the refresh button.
Cheers
Pete
Just checked it's four buttons to the left.

SP1 needs to be installed on a fresh install of Trainz, as described in the guide, did you do this?
It does sound like you need a re-install (including SP1)
