Content list of locomotives?

I've looked for a good while now on the forum and home pages and cannot find a list of content for the game. Specifically, what locomotives are included in the 2009 version? All the descriptions I have read use generic terms like hundreds or dozens. I would have thought such a list would be easy to post on the website.

Not Really.

In TS2009WBE build 40040 with all of DLS + Builtin+ some external websites downloads I have a choice of thousands of locos of which 400 are classed as builtin.
This changes as each upload adds more to the DLS and to external websites. You can see what's available if you have TS2009 by using Content Manager Search filter 'category locomotives'.

Similarly for other categories of assets. I have a total of some 145,000 assets with about 1000 a month added.

If I do not download a single thing, the game comes with 400 built-ins? That is amazing.

Hi ADF: First thing to do would be Launcher, push start button, wait til menu shows. Then across the bottom of the screen you'll see, Surveyor, Railyard, driver etc. Click on Railyard that will give you a list to see. And welcome to the Forum.

Which requires you to buy the game, which I haven't since I have the 2K6 version and only want to move up if the new built-in content makes it worthwhile.

As much as I like the DLS, I find I have little time now to browse and find things I want and then have to fix to get it to work.

So if there was a sufficient number of good out of the box locomotives I may be tempted to upgrade, if not I would continue with my current edition.

Here is a breakdown of the build versions of the 400 builtin locos in TS2009:

1.3 (Trainz CE) - 154
1.5 (UTC) - 35
2.0 - 2.4 (TRS2004) - 158
2.5 (TRS2006) - 52
2.9 (TS2009) - 1

I think TS2009 has one new built-in loco additional to what was built-in with TRS2004 and TRS2006.

Note that quite a few of the locos listed as build 2.5 (i.e. TRS06) were actually only built into the European TRS2007 version, and so would be new to anyone in Canada. These are, of course, largely German, French and Hungarian.

If choice of locos is the main reason for upgrading or not, then it's probably not worth it for you at the moment.

I'd just like to add a disclaimer before anyone objects: I realize my site isn't comprehensive. It probably never will be, but I'm adding to it all the time so hopefully it is gradually getting better.

Obo's Trainz Locomotive catalog has been listed in the Trainz Resources Directory for almost a year now. There are many great web sites like Obo's out there, but the only way you'll ever find some of them is by referring to the Directory. Many are not indexed by the search engines so you won't ever find them that way.
