Changing color of spline object?

I want to make changes to the coloring of a grass spline object. Unfortunately, there is not a usable file type/extension.
spline test-spline test.texture

changed .texture to .TGA but file header not recognized by several graphic programs???

You need to convert the .texture file to .tga by using PEVs Texture2TGA tool.
