Broken Turntables TRS22

Hi All,
So lately I've been experiencing this issue where I try to use turntables on my routes - I'm able to drive the loco onto the turntable without turning it, but when I try putting the turntable on a different road the track doesn't line up properly and the loco derails.
It's affected most of the turntables I have installed, including Steve Flander's 65ft GWR turntables (Quite a shame, because they became my go-to for 22)
The turntables with stubs seem to still be working ok, but I'm hesitant on using the AJS turntable as it doesn't fit the vibe I was aiming for with my routes.

Is there anyone else having the same issues? and if so, has a fix to this been found?

Kind Regards,
Noah

That would be the asset itself and has nothing to do with the simulation.

If you are to use the lead-in track pieces, something I don't know the name of actually, then they will be the same size as the track on the turntable. These are fixed-track parts that literally clip on to the turntable. They are a bit fiddly to put in place with some turntables being better than others and there have been some issues with them.

I think this is absolutely a bug.

I have recently created a turntable and have had the connected radial tracks all become disconnected just by using the turntable (clicking the icons), in which case you will see exactly what happens above, the locomotive can reach the edge of the track and it will derail. What is worse is that it happens sometimes, but not all of the time therefore is very difficult to diagnose. After noticing this I tried several other existing turntables and all had the intermittent disconnect issue. I confirmed none of the same assets had this problem in TRS19.

edit: here is a small video demonstrating. You can see the tracks disconnect as soon as the turntable is moved:

Ok so after thorough research and testing, I've come down to the Turntables where the problem is present:
<kuid:425700:102993>,<kuid:-1:6353>,<kuid:96148:48401>,<kuid:-1:78032>,<kuid:96148:48400>,<kuid2:35412:38051:1>,<kuid2:661281:85115:3>,<kuid:187586:28091>,<kuid:-1:110014>,<kuid2:35412:38994:1>,<kuid2:60238:37037:3>,<kuid:425700:102445>,<kuid2:69518:38999:3>,<kuid2:60238:37039:4>,<kuid2:60238:60015:2>,<kuid:101839:21000>,<kuid2:124060:38066:3>,<kuid2:248163:104284:1>,<kuid2:359841:101315:1>,<kuid:425700:103706>,<kuid2:60238:60017:1>,<kuid2:116296:36665:1>,<kuid:133420:101396>,<kuid:187586:28092>,<kuid:425700:103676>,<kuid2:187586:28162:1>,<kuid:187586:28215>
All of these ones I've tested in TRS22 build 123799, and some come from content packages that I'm not sure if they're a T+ or TRS22 Platinum exclusive thing or not...
Either way, I do hope that the N3V devs can find the problem and fix it, as I've no clue why in TRS19 SP5 these work just fine, yet in TRS22 SP3 the problem remains...

I'm using standard TRS 22 build 126273. Turntables are now malfunctioning on two WIP's. Removing the existing and installing new results in the same asset being placed BUT minus all its track and connecting stubs! The same problem is evident with three different assets.

Content Manager shows all assets as fully functional and database rebuild completed.

WHAT GIVES N3V?

What is really weird is that the VR 70ft turntable is broken on my ARTC Main South v2 route but not on the separate mega route it is merged with. Indeed, what gives?

If you import a route with the turntable from older Trainz, they will work in most cases. If you add a new turntable into any route in TRS22 they get broken. It would appear that if you alter an asset in an older route it will store that information when imported into a newer version of Trainz. If you then try to move it, it will revert to the original asset setting as if it was newly placed.

I think I may have solved my problem. Anticipating the worst and me having to delete and then reload most of my routes including WIPs, in preparation for that overhauI I opened each route (not its default file) in Surveyor Mode and then did a "Save as" using the original asset file name but with the added affix 0125 to indicate the latest version of the WIP.

I then went back into the route file to the site of the defective turntable and reloaded the same turntable asset. Much to my surprise - and relief - the asset loaded complete with table track and all the associated stub tracks. Mission complete!

Don't ask me to explain what happened but I suspect that the previous route on which I'd been working for perhaps some three/four months predated a TRS 22 update or system modification and that an asset/system incompatibility had crawled out of the woodwork . Doing a "Save as" seemingly restored that compatibility.

Just a theory

Theory sounds good, and thanks for sharing, I am only 6 months into TRS22 PE (Platinum Edition) and I have found several Quirks in 22, however on a brighter note, I find doing DBR repairs, and Game uses, that 22 is faster than my Older TRS2019 (PE) but, I still have 19 installed and use for Routes that give me trouble in 22.

Extra work and Hard Drive Space but I have been taught, always have a Plan B in effect if something fails.

One other thing, I bought a new Laptop few months ago, HP Victus, and was able to kick up Ram from 16 to 64, and install Samsung 990 SSD, 4 Tera moving up from 1 TB that came with HP. 1 TB is a joke for Trainz, with all the increased file sizes now.

Makes a huge difference when work with large Routes other Members have made.

1. Seems my theory doesn't hold true for all routes. Have one modified WIP where the reinstalled turntable is still minus tracks. Back to the drawing board.

2. Further testing reveals that regardless of my "Save as" theory - post #11 (which enabled me to replace/reload CL 62ft Turntable 04 - kuid:425700:103676 - complete with all its track and 4 track stubs) I can now drive a loco onto the table, turn that table through x degrees, but the loco will then derail when it is driven off onto any of the linked tracks.

DON49PLM is suggesting that thanks to N3V advancing(?) technology turntables are now a "thing of the past". Would someone at N3V care to comment?

Seems to be an ongoing problem, first noted in 2022.

Cheers, evilcrow

Thank you Ken for your 16/11/22 posting. I had seen others but not this. Interesting that Malc had identified the same problem because it is one of his assets that I'd been using and to the best of my knowledge this specific problem has only surfaced in the last fortnight. Very odd.
