Borrowing textures?

Hello all,

As some of you may know, I've been doing some telegraph pole reskinning. But I have a question.

The texture I have used on the insulators is from the Canadian/US telegraph poles by Eurostar.

Do I need to get Eurostar's permission to release my reskinned models (original model from Vinnybarb) with the "borrowed" texture?

I would say that this depends on the author's licence conditions. If it is stated that others may use and modify as they wish (this is what my licence has always permitted), then no problem. If not, or if no conditions are stated, then permission should be sought. Most creators are helpful.

His liscense says that his models and textures are copyright. Darn.... The insulator texture is better than perfect...

I already have. I think Eurostar has left the Trainz community.

You could always replicate it. Copy it into photoshop and make it again using layers over the top. If you don't know how to just ask someone who does. Will take all of 5min to do.
