why would people be getting banned?
Well may you ask, as I have been banned 4 times (four times) in the past myself. Usually for one month at each time. It was a personality clash of a M (at the risk of getting banned again for using the
FORBIDDEN M word!!! and for discussing M decisions as per the CoC) in a foreign language forum of Trainz. I am bilingual and I was born in Austria, hence I speak Austrian and if you happen to know what language Austrians speak, then you might guess which foreign language this might be. I was completely vindicated after complaining to N3V Games LOUDLY and OFTEN over a VERY LONG period, some years actually, when this M was finally removed for abuse of his position in the forum.
The point I am trying to make is, people get banned for various reasons, if the reason of getting a ban is genuine and one deserves to get banned, so be it and one will live by/with it. In my case, it affected my health, I was soooo close of chucking all my creating for Trainz away and just walk away from Trainz. But then I thought, why should I feel guilty because I had been getting banned, it was NOT MY FAULT as this particular M was a dictator in this particular forum. He dug his own grave when I looked through his own posts, to plainly see where he blatantly and often actually started arguments in the forum himself. M means to moderate, to calm some threads/posts/members BUT NOT to inflame a particular situation himself by his actions, by his words used, by his denigrating, often spiteful and hated answers to posts, as he so often did.
He, at the time was the most prolific poster in this particular forum BUT when some answers to his posts or replies was not to his liking or someone showed him up for what he REALLY was (a bully), you just coped his wrath. At that time he was the SOLE M in that forum, some 33 000 members large and blind Freddy could see, this was too much for this person to handle. When pointing this out to the powers that be, overnight suddenly there were 4 (FOUR) new Ms to this particular forum added, unfortunately they all spoke fluently ENGLISH but NOT the language the forum used. This brought a wry smile to my face, how the hell can the new added Ms see what was going on.
Anyway, it was left to me to translate some of the very serious posts and activities of that person and to send these translations in, they all could have been easily checked by anyone NOT speaking that particular language by Google Translate, why this was not done on a regular basis, your guess is as good as mine.
I hope I do not get banned again, just by HIGHLIGHTING some issues faced by some members of Trainz, especial if they happen to post in a foreign language forum of Trainz, which could have been so easily rectified in the past by N3V Games.
One other thing before I go, my first ever "refraction" what ever the hell that means and receiving some penalty points by an overzealous person not here anymore for having the "heinous crime" for having my signature picture by several pixels or bytes too large. Would it not have been easier by that person to either send me a PM or an email to point this out instead of "refracting" me by some penalty points?
Where does one go to complain about such unjustified issues you might well ask? The HelpDesk is the only place where one can do so and you know how long that will take? But make damn sure you are completely right and on solid grounds about your complaint(s) as otherwise things will remain as they are.
My experiences and my own opinions, no animals where harmed in setting up and writing this post.
