Bakersfield To San Bernardino

Very cool Joe, I see the set has expanded a bit. I'm not sure if you know but I'm working on a route in DC and I use these signals (because thats what CSX employs around DC, all the PRR ones are gone :() and it would be really awesome if he could make just the numberboard as an object so it can be used on gantries and more signal combinations. Like:

That way it could be really flexible!

Thanks for your time,

Davis
-Well i know he could. Its already been done on the 05 signals, with the grade plate. you have the option to have it, or not have it!
Joe,

Nice work some of the best I’ve seen in Trainz so far.

The only way to get the grades accurate would be to work off of the actual track profile data from territory you are modeling. You can get signal location data from this also and of course a TTSI (Time Table Special Instruction) book always helps.
-Thanks for the input! I'll get a hold of some of my contacts!

@strench707 theres a site where the programmable searchlight signals are have a nameable sign like that to type in your own text

http://www.carreweb.fr/TRS2004/Sigca_en.html

dont worry site is in english and download the entry called "Searchlight & Color-light Signals + Gantries[FONT=helvetica,arial,sans-serif]"

i utilize them in my routes all the time :) have fun

I'm making and skinning (and will come up with a higher quality skin) those ladder combos. Eventually they'll have a.name type plates all installed since virtually all signals have a MP plate.

Very cool guys but my idea was just making the numberboard as an object like a house. JR already has a numberboard mesh so if they just made it that kind of object that would be great.

You could put it on other signals that have similar numberboards and on gantries where they post them in odd places and not just on the single headed signals.

Joe - My son and I used to camp out over the outcrop overlooking tunnel 10 (it isn't there now) and I can still hear and feel the SP TankTrain comming up the hill from Bakersfield at sunset. When I look at your'e flicks it brings back so many memories. Thanks for your great work.

-your welcome! it brings back a lot of memories for me too back in the 90's... i use to camp right below the little hill on the south side of the track next to the signals, just around the corner from you lol! (refer to screen shot) pretty much where the compass is that was my spot 2 or more times a year for all of the 90's! i miss it! When i set that camera in that same spot i get flash-backs lol! I'll try to get some shots up of a good old fashion tank train setup!!!

Joe - just where your'e blue car is... I parked my RV and camped out with my troops just before Desert Storm. They had a ball watching the trains going by just a few feet away.. Thanks for the memories... Ted

That's all it is is memories. You can't get up in there any more because of all of the iron, cement ties wood ties and other junk that the maintenance foreman has strewn all over the place. Plus about 100 no trespassing signs stuck on everything he could find to stick them on. To bad as I liked sitting up there on that spot too and watching trains. Since I live in the area I used to go up there quite frequently. I never saw anybody doing any harm while I was there. It seems this new foreman is just a hard xss and that came from someone that works the night train. Rumors have it that he didn't get the last promotion he was seeking.:'(

-Would you have any ideas what grows in the farms between sandcut and edison?

Oranges and grapes, oranges are dominant. The picture is sandcut. There used to be a siding there that helpers were parked on. The trains used to stop there and pickup helpers on the trip east and would drop them on the trip west. Now BNSF makes there consist up ready to go in Bakersfield and UP makes there's up in Fresno, since they don't use the UPSP yard in Bakersfield anymore except for maintenance and to change out crews.

edit: The city land fill is out there too, straight north of sandcut, that's where that first overhead crossing goes but all they grow out there is garbage.:hehe:

-LOL.... garbage! thats funny. yes, just after the bridge at the bottom of the little climb up to sandcut there use to be a spur there but apparently was washed out by floods. http://www.carrtracks.com/cateh327sp8662.jpg thanks for the great info too bnsf50!
