Santa Fe Routes?

I noticed there wasn't a proper recommendation thread for good Santa Fe/ATSF routes, and I thought I'd start one. Especially sine K&L has a Santa Fe 3751 model on the way soon.

Obviously there's Cajon Pass, both 1990 and modern day versions (DLS and SoCalTrains respectively), along with the Mojave Sub which includes Tehachapi Pass. I might add my own recommendations here once I find more, but does anyone have any other good recommendations for ATSF routes to run with in Trainz 22?

Here's my list (WIP):

DLS:
<kuid:844571:101444> Amtrak Pacific Surfliner
(Download station, only route to have LA to San Diego but is in 06 quality)
<kuid2:184847:100056:2> Cajon Subdivision - 1990 Part 1: The Pass
<kuid:783073:16900> Raton Pass
(Payware route, likely exclusive to Trainz Mobile)
<kuid:559188:101230> Chicago Junction Railway V0.02
<kuid2:425968:100505:5> BNSF: Clovis to Lubbock - TRS 2022
<kuid:439337:104762> Roscoe, Snyder & Pacific - TRS19

Ah, thx! As for the Pacific Surfliner route, I could easily start up a DEM and do it all from scratch... but I already got enough to do as it is, lol

As for the link to the Quahog Sub website, I found an updated version which I'll update the link on.

Do you know of any other ATSF routes I could find for Trainz though?

I made a route called ATSF KC TO EMPORIA & THE HOWARD BRANCH REDONE. (THIS IS A DEM ROUTE IN KANSAS.) ON DOWN LOAD STATION 15 JULY 2025.
I made this route at the 1928 to 1935 in the Steam Era.

I finally found some time to give the session a try. Is it supposed to be programmed? It said for Opie to load three fowler boxcars with wheat, I assume the wheat is in bags. I saw the junction ahead set to go to the grain elevators where there were 6 boxcars. Even though the junction was set, I had a red light on the signal, but I was able to go past it. I coupled up to the first boxcar, then uncoupled the back three, leaving me with three. As I pulled back, I did not notice anything loading, so not sure if I succeeded, but the message to load went away. I backed out beyond the junction and the light, but then where? No further instructions were forthcoming. Am I on my own from there? The route looks great so far!

There are no sessions. There are Directions for sessions. On Content Manager, right click open show in Explorer. I never thought of that type of confusion. Here is how they actually ran the route. If you are starting in Emporia and running south you will not pickup any Boxcars of Grain. Back in those days the box cars had boards nailed to inside at least half way up the Door. They poured the grain in until it was at that height so as not to leak out!. Look! this is 1900s or earlier technology. Grain cars as we know them today came much later after ww2? I am not sure. So this route is based on 1928 to 1935. Now back to running south on the Howard Branch, South bound trains usually had fresh Vegetables Ice products in reefers that were made of wood and filled with ICE on each end of the car. Emporia had a Icing station so When you make up your train in Emporia, I make a list what every town needs going southbound. If I am in a hurry I make a run south to Madison ks. then just south you can turn around on the Wye at Madison Junction to head back north. I am so sorry to keep you wondering about the Grain in the Boxcars!, So Grain always heads north to Emporia, At this time in history there was not enough grain storage anywhere but the Argentine Kansas Grain complex. As far as the Session goes, there is not one. I just set up all the freight cars every where on the route and loaded them and put all of them on the session. I wanted to change the name of the session to Rolling Stock but I could not get that to work. The Train Crew would leave Emporia and call it a day in Moline. The Next day the trip back north to Emporia was when most of the heavy freight was done. Santa Fe railroad had problems keeping train crews on the Howard branch because of the layover. Here is the thing you want to Accomplish, Pick a Commodity, Fuel oil for instance make a list what every town needs and go deliver full tank cars. Heading North you can pick up all the empty's. If you get it done then you WON! You have to do a lot of thinking, I had a mild stroke and the more I use my brain the better my short term memory is. But really if you look at a real railroad and the practices then you will have a blast with this route.

Awesome! Thanks for the history and background. I plane to spend some time trying the things you mention. Thanks again for all your hard work!

can modern Power instead of steam be run on the route you made?

When I was in the 5th grade 1968 I lived in Eureka Kansas and the AT&SF used GP7 locos for diesel power. Yellow on the front and blue in the back , neat looking!. there was a trestle that crossed a creek where all us kids would stand at a distance and watch the train go by. Waving at the Engine crew. I graduated High School in 1976 and the trains were all gone along with all the tracks on the Howard Branch.

I would like to see a proper Cajon Pass Route that includes the route from the Cemex Cement plant in Victorville at Leon to Apple Valley, the one from Hesperia to Cushenbury. (Edit) I have the locos for the route from Leon to Apple Valley but... no one can have them. You can ask me how I made mine but that's about all. You will need to acquire the proper rights to release the Locomotives though from both Jointed Rail and CEMEX. Oh and the route from Cajon Pass to Lancaster, Palmdale to Mojave.
