Australian screenshots

have you tried, I don't know, looking? :hehe: Theres tonnes of stuff! just search VR, SAR, NSW, NSWGR etc in the DLS and you will find it...

David, I think you'll find crews complaining that the speed board is obstructed by the OHW structure. Of course, you can reply with "road knowledge", but the unions might get upset. Nice looking tunnel, that!

As for the DLS, I'll be uploading my route to Victrainz (if they'll have it), as I don't trust the DLS anymore...

It's not really that bad Trent....it's the long lens :D

Haven't posted here for awhile...

Let's just say I have my reasons. They are really too long winded to go into here and they are rather contentious with some people, so I'll keep them to myself.
I will find a satisfactory solution though.:D

Rather strange how the lead loco is marshalled, long hood leading with short hood to short hood. I know they don't do that here in QLD.

colhad, typically some crews will do that if there is a problem with the loco that would normally lead the train - perhaps the roof is leaking, or the radio isn't working. In addition, some Victorian locomotives are designed to be run long-end leading. It's more comfortable for the driver for an X class to run "backwards" due to the position of the control stand. I have mates who prefer to drive Vic locos backwards because of the location of the controller.

Crazy, eh?

Anyway, here are some of my testing of my new session:

I'm using Tom's 20ft bulk containers, which can be downloaded from Victrainz, although for some reason, they keep repeating - ie instead of mixing between the three designs, they always appear as the same container on every wagon on the train. Regardless, they look awesome, so I'll stick with 'em. Only problem is, it looks like I'm driving the Tarago trash train!

Still got some cameras to place, and some tweaks to make, but it's looking nearly done!

Oooooooooh, is that an Austrack 48 I see poking its nose outta the shed.:D

It is, but it's only the basic Auran model that has been reskinned, and it's built in to TS2010. The advantage of it is it has a really, really nice cab - the outside isn't too flash as it's only based on the Auran 48, but the interior is really nice. Expect one to pop up sooner or later at the head of a train...

There is also a Silverton 48 model, but again, that's just a reskin of the Auran 48 - the main reason I avoid using it is that it doesn't have the same vivid colours as Davids C Class, so it looks a bad dull and sorry for itself nestled in behind the C's.

Ah yes, I only discovered the Silverton version myself a couple days ago, but haven't been able to compare it to the Silverton C yet.

The quiet of the afternoon is broken as K103 rolls into the platform at Boolarra with an up goods service.

With Multi Player only enabled to use content from the DLS, it will be a dead duck in the water after Trainz 12

oh I dont know, a lot of people dont like multiplayer scenarios because of security implications etc

I just got a newsletter about trs2012, very glittzy, but frankly I'm not impressed with this limited offer for two reasons;
1/ it is clearly aimed at the northern hemisphere, as there is not a mention of anything Australian or New Zealand.
2/ with the australian screenies thread being one of the largest, it's logical that there is a vibrant community behind it. I dont like being ignored. It appears to me that since, at least trs 06, there has been no new Australian content, be it scenery maps or rollingstock released that was made by auran. It is all privately made.

So having said that, I dont see any value there at all

cheers
pete

Although we have a long thread, it's also been pruned far less than the other threads :) We also have larger user bases in the US, UK, and Europe, hence our inclusion of content mainly focused on these countries. Of course, the routes with TS12 are also 3rd party. Unfortunately, there's really not many Australian layouts that are offered to us that meet these layouts (either in length, or visual standards - note, not having a go, however our intention with TS12 is to try and improve the visual standard of built-in content).

There were actually a fair few updated/'new' Aus locos in TS2010 that were produced in house. Including updated VR S class, NSW 44 class, SAR 930 class (single and double ended I'm pretty sure), SAR 830 class (new cab view as well, used on all updated DL531's I'm pretty sure), AN 830 class, Silverton DL531, AusTrak (SP?) DL531, NSWGR 48 class, CR GM class, AN GM class, new Overland cars (still basic, but somewhat updated), and a few others I think.

Granted, many of these are 'basic' updates of the older models to improve them a little (e.g. the S class), however some also included further updates (e.g. the 44/930 and 48/830 are actually quite respectable beside current content). That's actually a pretty good list IMO :) Especially when a few different liveries were also added.

Ha! Well I am having a go.
Australians pay Trainz like they play Politics!
Too lazy to help out and make sure it's done properly and then complain when somebody else rips off the system or does not do it right :o
Vic trainz has turned into a home for the "gimme" types and nobody has released a decent map worth including... or will not allow Trainz the "priveledge" of their work :(

And although we have plenty of rolling stock builders, including Peter C, Zec, Jerka Billegulla and the young ones include Aaron there too. These guys turn out some incredible product, but all we have to run it on is European or Yankee layouts.
And we will wait and see about Multi Player, but I believe that the only thing that will kill it is those that don't use DLS content, and those that go out to deliberately kill it off. To them I say, thanks for nothing
If you don't put in, you don't get much for your $149 in my opinion
And yes I include myself in this catergory too.

Rod, we're not all always gimme-pigs, I am sometimes, but Stevy, Timo, Aaron, and I are all making 'good' looking routes. Not exactly to the quality of Dermmy or Mezzeprezzo, but 'good' routes

Maybe Garry could 'give us' the N-E Line to use as a group layout, all the way to Albury??

G'Day Jamie
You know something, I know you are right ;)
However this is the biggest longest thread on the new forums.
Most of the screenshots here are taken on small "cameo" setups to show off the rolling stock.
If we want something in Trainz 2014 or 14? then we got to produce something.
Look I am not out here trying to hurt feelings. But this is a "Trainz", an all Australian developement, that gets its best returns from Russia, China and Hungary.
Show me the layouts that can showcase the great Australian content coming from all the Aussie 3D creators. Read back from page one, here, and see all the ones that looked fantastic, and never made the grade, for what ever reason.
We simply have not got the necessary skills, or heart to get things finished, and that is how I see it, sorry :'(
Prove me wrong?
Cheers
Rod

And know Rod, you are right

I tried to create a VR version of the wadalbavale line, with a mainline, NZ houing, and it fell to pieces after maybe a week

Similar to Muliebuck and Forest_Runner, I don't have inspiration for such a long project, and prefer modules instead.

That being said, you're downfall, and almost 'depressive' state has made me want to build a route from scratch, work on it, as a project,
It would be fictional, but it would be VR themed, mainline-Branch

Now, Garry has to finish his trestles as they're broken in '10, and I'll start. Hell, I'll start it now and let Garry finish it in his own time, as long as they're put on the DLS.

I'll think about it some more when I finish my H/W and when I get home

Jamie
